One of a number of series they tried opposite "60 Minutes." I always loved, loved, loved! The wraparound story with Old Indy. And I'm with George Hall, who wanted at least one episode with 93 year old Indy having a modern day adventure! You can't tell me he wasn't still getting into trouble! (And loving it!)

I grew up watching the version with Old Indy. When I saw that the new DVDs didn't have him I was upset. I liked when it was Indy telling the story about his past.

To all the nay-sayers about George and Sean Ptricks portrayal of Indy according to a interview they both gave they came in for the read and afterwards was told to make the character there own and that was all the direction they got. The showrunners reckoned the fans would want it because it was Indy and not care how the character was played.

I was disappointed when the re-released the series and cut out so much. They couldn't just remaster it! When I watched "The first adventure" it wasn't even the first episode! I'm glad I came across this. I miss the original episodes I grew up with.

This is the original way the series was shown on TV. For whatever loony reason, Lucas got rid of all evidence of George Hall and other odd edits in the DVD release.

George Hall was asked about that while the show was airing. He said that, rather than simply imitating anther actor, he decided to give his original take on the character. Lucas liked the idea, so they went with it. Had he tried to imitate Ford, I can only imagine fanboys saying "His Ford impression suck!!!!111"

These should have been left on the DVD sets as extras or something, especially for those of us who actually watched the show in the original format when it aired on ABC back in the day. The editing of the entire series into TV movies later on was not that great of an idea to be honest.

As much as anything it would have been nice to include them, if just to show Hall some respect. I mean he did what was asked of him, appearing in more episodes than anyone else and his thank you is to have all his work erased, not even worthy of a DVD special feature.

​@user-un5xj1wl6p Well, you're wrong. Dial of Destiny is right up there with the trilogy, and in a lot of ways, it's better than Raiders and Crusade. It doesn't touch Temple of Doom, that movie is just perfection all around. But what Dial did was finally give Jones a character arc again (not done since Temple), and it paid off beautifully.

Unfortunately no, as the series was completely re-edited into 22 TV movies instead of the original format. That's the only way to watch the series now unless you have VHS recordings of the show when it originally aired.

there are a few full episodes people have taped and uploaded, bad quality obviously because they were using a 1990s video camera pointed at their TV or old VHS recordings directly uploaded. Sad that Lucas cut all the bookends with old Indy to the floor.

He told that story to Helena, but it was the cliffs notes version mixed with some PTSD. 😂 I'm actually happy that Jones feels Temple of Doom is the adventure he remembers most.

Nothing against George Hall, but from what I see here, I'm glad they got rid of these bookends. Yes, they should have included these original versions on the DVD for people who wanted to see them, but for me, it's a good thing. Who thought "Old Fart Indy" was a good idea? People would go on to complain about it in Crystal Skull, so I don't know what made them think Old Indy was the way to go even back then. P.S. The eye patch is stupid as well.
