Something about Jarvis resonates so much with me. He’s so honest about not fitting in and having a hard time socially. He’s also dead my type (a proper piece lol)

I so wish I’d have made the pilgrimage in the 90’s when I had the chance. Wouldn’t even think of going now…

Male, Columbus (CVL neighborhood), Ohio, from Blackpool, UK. 35 yrs. old. Watching this now. So fucking amazing. They have the audio on Spotify under "Party Clowns - Live in London 1991" When this was recorded, I was 2.5 years old!

boring questions like this are easier to answer well than actually probing questions about the aesthetic concepts of Pulp, it is the old Brian Eno adage: "you'll often find artists find it easier to talk about their process than their art"

I have been listening to this one particular version for 4 days straight and still not burned out on it. It's great! Sounds like a brand new song every time it restarts and I have it on a loop!

Russell, I feel like you might be lurking in the comments, sometimes. If not, anyone in the know, feel free to chime in. Pulp just announced a 2014 tour. Will Russell Senior be part of that lineup? 🎉🎉🎉

Only discovered this track and immediately started to listen to all of pupls stuff. The one thing that strikes me is they are great musicians and i definately rate them very highly great band. Sounds like an Art band if that makes sense. Love their stuff it has been haunting me for the last while. Refreshing and solid sound.

I've found several pre 'Different Class" (some possibly pre 'His and Hers") live performance recordings on YT this week and I'm gobsmacked by how much more energy and atmosphere these songs have live versus studio recordings. I love 'Separations' to bits. The longevity of their evolution in style and skill has always been impressive to me. But as studio albums, to me, 'His and Hers' is Pulp at their most polished and least creatively inhibited by the expectations that come from "being Pulp" in a studio setting, if that makes any sense. I highly regard most of what came after, but Countdown, My Legendary Girlfriend, et al, just hit differently live. I was in the US until '96, so this is a retroactive realization for me 🎉🎉🎉

Interesting to watch this after listening to Jarvis's audiobook, where he narrates how Russell was in the audience at the first Pulp gig (apart from the gig they did at school) which took place at this very venue over a decade previously... and gave them a good review in his fanzine. Wonder what was going through the respective heads of Jarvis and Russell at the time.

Saw them about a week after this interview at Pumpehuset on the Copenhagen date of this short tour of Scandinavia just before they did an arena tour of the UK and things were never quite the same again. They were absolutely on fire at this point in time.

Proof that Jarvis looked and moved in his special way before they became really famous, and that the band sounded that way before it too. Though at the time they must have been pretty pleased this song got to number 80 in the charts.
