I have just one single cucumber plant, and it's currently spring where I live. Is it possible to just use a tomato stake for it to grow up, instead of using string? Or does it need to be string. Thanks, Gen 💮

Awesome video, the best cucumber video I have found so far. May I ask, how often do we need to sprinkle fertiliser on the soil? ~Gen 🌸

I was hoping you will say something on the way the leaves gets diseases. But you ran your mouth for a long time, but did not say anything about the diseases.

"...heat waves into the 80's" That's hilarious. I do grow mizuna in the fall and spring, but if highs in the 80's count as a heatwave, I have a non-stop heatwave from May through October. Let a few mizuna plants go to seed, by the way. You'll attract a ton of native pollinators and have seeds for years.

Labeling. I put one marker on one side of the tray, so in one cell, and then put the info into a spreadsheet or doc, that's it. If you have a lot of trays you can put a number on the marker so you remember which tray is which. Same thing when I put plants into the ground. I just put that into a document and because gardens tend to be grid like, I find a spreadsheet is good enough. Merge cells. And yes my preference for putting seed into cells is filling cells to the level I want the seed, add seed for which this part is easier, and then add the extra soil on top, for which it's easier for me to get the depth right by how big of a pinch of soil I add in and also looking at how much the dirt went up in the cell. The only hard part about this is getting the initial level correct, but after a few trays this is now easy enough. I like this method because you need less dexterity in the fingers, and dry skin on the hand means a harder time controlling where seeds go.

Hello, it's late but please try to graft tomatoes on solanum torvum(turkey berry) or eggplant rootstocks, its a huge thing in india. also you can choose high temperature varities (syngenta sahoo ) for triple digit temperatures.

I'll be getting dill and alyssums this year for them - diatomaceous earth and support too. Earwigs!!! are just awful and kept getting in the husks, and apparently dill and alyssum may help for tachinid flies against them, diatomaceous earth too. Just need to plant them in different pots/soil. It's the only plant that had them occasionally. Still extremely good harvest and look to them. I had the queen of malinalco variety and they're great, maybe better slightly unripe/half green. The crunchy dandelion-like stems kept breaking for me by wind too, I'm not sure of a good way to shut the wind in my case, perhaps just make a small wooden wall.

Call me old fashioned but I always thought the tomato plants needed most of their leaves to get the photosynthesis process going from the Sun! I guess if you're in a warm climate year-round it wouldn't matter as much getting the photosynthesis with less leaves but in the northern climates where you don't have that long of a growing season the plant needs all the energy it can get which means it needs its leaves! Now at the end of the season when you have fruit left on the plant and only a few weeks of growing season left then I always prune branches back so the energy left in the entire plant stem goes to ripening the tomatoes 🍅.

Removing what you call the suckers limits production. They are what produce the tomatoes if you removed every suckeryou'd only have tomatoes towards the top. You should be removing the leaf set below the sucker cuz it's never gonna do anything but grow bigger and bigger leaves. If you leave suckers then youll have tomatoes all the way up the plant instead of just towards the top.

I love your channel. When you video what you’re doing, like pruning the tomatoes we couldn’t see where you were getting the stems from. Your hand was in front of the camera needs to be somewhere else. It still left me questioning what stems to prune. I’m sorry for complaining but was looking forward to finally understanding which branches to cut off.
