Looks promising still few questions: - is it showing on mid or navi who is calling, caller id - name from contacts? I had to live with grom usb2 witch shows caller name on mid but no metadata over bt, now I've changed it with grom usb3 witch shows metadata whatever is playing over bt but no caller name - just number. (I've used same bt module on both grom units) - One more thing, I don't have that tel button voice button mapped as siri button on my steering wheel on my e39 2001 so how can i answer an incoming call, and how can I decline a call, how to activate siri without "hey siri" with my phone locked on the pocket - on grom I have sc press twice for voice dial -siri activation with locked phone, up button for answer an incoming call and down button for rejecting a call - does buebus have these things is it a similar implementation for these?

>- is it showing on mid or navi who is calling, caller id - name from contacts? Yes, but you only get caller ID for contacts, everyone else will just show a number. As for call handling, do you have the phone / talking head button on the steering wheel? Those are used for call management with the BlueBus. The Telephone (not TEL) button also works for answering calls and hanging them up. Siri is summoned via a long press of this button (or the talking head button).

@@tass2001 caller id from contacts is just fine, unfortunately I don't have tel or R/T or talking head on my wheel - the car did not had any tel function from factory. I added a 3.5mm mic. As far as I know is quite easy to retrofit the panel with the complete tel layout on the wheel (4 spokes, heated) but if it requires additional wiring and coding...I also did not have the big blue connector on trunk - nor the dsp, just mid business cd and cd changer - currently removed and hooked the grom unit. If I remember correctly both panels have the same plug but don't know if it will work plug&play without some coding and/or wiring, worth mention I have low ike also

Brian, Your X3 Business CD is exactly the same unit found in the E46 except with a different faceplate -- It's the CD53. So yes, this will work with that. :)

Hey! The BlueBus doesn't interfere with your ability to use the OBC screen or the Navigation map. For now, it does disable "split screen" mode, but that's really it.

I saw this originally on Facebook but I can’t find post to ask this question, but in the site it asks the radio type I currently have mid if I changed radios type would I need a different one? Also will it work in e53?

@Wayne Au - No, still working on the last beta revision before sending off for manufacture. I have added more features that are not featured on this video, mainly the ability for the unit to emulate the factory telephone control unit, so that it can act like the factory Bluetooth system :).

@Young 23 - it's hidden on the page :). [email protected]. Anyways, no, you won't need that as I'm integrating it into the BlueBus. It will allow you to use the stock microphone (if equipped or retrofitted) with the BlueBus.

This a great idea and looks very promising? How’s is working out for you so far? Also quick question. I have an e39 with the 6 cd changer and the mid, the radio that isn’t business and is also known to have the dead pixels. I think it’s called mid. Will that work to navigate through the system? I know you said it but since you used a business radio I want to make sure. Thanks and keep up the great work! Looking forward to getting one once finished!

tass2001 Brilliant! Would it be possible to manipulate the aux input with 16:9 display and controls like the cd changer? Obviously need to hook into the iBus somewhere but that’s no problem.

@@Magsybaby you mean, use the AUX input rather than the CD changer? It's possible but there would have to be software modifications and you'd have to tap into power and IBus elsewhere :)

So it's clearly connected to the IBus... Would it be possible to enable stuff like: - auto-unlock at engine shutdown - "comfort" turn signals (triple-blink with tap) - start up messages on the IKE (like a Grom/Intravee) - PDC distance warnings on IKE (like a Grom/Intravee) - light shows, functionality like the Modlight 2 Obviously, I'm sure your first goal is to get a product out there. But these could be cool "value add" features that bring in more customers.

Wow, that's a lot of work making your own circuit board. Why didn't you use Rolf Resler's interface? Well, between you and I, we've duplicated a lot of our work. BTW, I'm working with a beta version of DroidScript which supports Serial over USB OTG. Soon it will be in General Deployment, but doesn't support HEX in GD yet. This means you can test your code in real-time while in the car. If you are using a Nexus 7, you can use the built-in GPS and get a decent chunk of change on ebay for your NAV module. I sold all my stereo components and got the Nexus 7, and amp replacements for less than I sold them all. I've been struggling to get the "Door Open" ibus HEX codes. Any chance you can help me locate them?

Please clearly state how one gets the car into this mode. If SMG, what position is the shifter in, and what position is the key,? Is the gas pedal or brake depressed?

Sorry for the lack of info, I only uploaded this to link to a forum for help. The vehicle is an 06 ZCP Non-SMG. This isn't a specific mode I put the car into, when you rotate the key to position 2, the vehicle powers the DME and the DME does some pre-run checks on the EDK (throttle system); this specifically was the DME opening the throttle to 100% and back to check for obstructions to the ITBs.

The issue ended up being a bad DME. The car was throwing DTCs for the throttle actuator and position sensors

I haven't. I totalled the car crashing into a wall a few weeks ago so right now my efforts are on finding another pristine E46 M. I had some shower thoughts about a better UI; Something like the Ford Sync interface but done up Android style.

Ya, I have a N7 installed in my dash. I am using Nova Launcher and some invisible widgets on top of a custom wallpaper. I want to intergrate the ibus but I don't have the know how to do that. How did you enable otg charging?

Awesome project man! I am also using a Nexus 7 for a headunit in my e46, but I have removed almost all of the stock nav computer and tuner equipment.. do you have to have the nav computer plugged in to read the fuel consumption and so on?

You don't need the nav computer for anything other than GPS Coordinates, street name and city name data. The OEM Nav unit (The board monitor, not the one in the trunk) simply reads/requests the fuel consumption data from the IKE (Instrument Cluster, thats the IBus device that actually keeps most of the data the stock nav provides) directly. I also talk to the radio and other IBus connected devices in the car to get data from them.
