Afia, I really admire your work. As someone who has married into the culture, I have learned so much from you about cooking and the rich food history of Ghana. My Ashanti husband loves the food grew up eating and thanks to you i have been able to enjoy their vegan versions.

I grew in up Togo (country in West Africa) and now live in Europe. Now I'm older, I've come to realise how elite the diet is in West African countries.

Keep on lying to yourself sis, "beef flavored"? Like if you're really about that life in west Africa disregard everything that has animal association. Even the flavoring is a red flag. 😂😂😂

Thank you for this! As someone who has lived in southern Ghana most of their life, I'm very curious about the cuisines of other regions, esp the north. This was even more so when I saw the rich variety of foods that cookathon chef did. I can't wait to travel to the north and experience their food.

Ewe people (Togo and Ghana) are called Aganyin by the Yorubas of Nigeria and are known for being excellent and clean cooks. Yoruba men of my parents and grandparents generation also married Ewe women a lot, so I have aunts with names like Kosiba etc. The famous Mama Berkeley of Lagos Island, (RIP) was my great-aunt and she was Ewe. Her chin-chin was famous nationwide.

wdym it's easier to get (flavoured) soy chunks in Ghana than it is in western europe 😭 (at least in the netherlands) If i wasn't envious of you already i would be now, i literally cannot find them here for a reasonable price, and they're always the small kind
