This is by far the best solar panel song I’ve ever heard. Btw, who’s the female singer? I do like her voice.

The ugliest things I've seen, and that's on a small scale. Can't imagine large expanses of solar farms taking up useful land.

Sun and wind micro generation could provide a robust energy grid for us all if actively managed but we always need clean nuclear to provide reliable background levels.
@bbasmdc
@bbasmdc 2 ай бұрын
But if we can find a way to streamline nuclear builds why bother losing all the famland to solar or windfarms? Individuals can still put panels on their rooftops but we could get rid of the unreliable solar and wind entirely.

if we need nuclear to provide a backup to cover intermittent renewables why do we need renewables?
@bbasmdc
@bbasmdc 2 ай бұрын
We would not need renewables if we could streamline nuclear builds (like China is doing). Nuclear takes up far less space, works 24-7-365, is almost as safe as solar (safer than wind and every other form of power). People say nuclear plants take a long time to build. This is only true in certain countries (eg. UK and US) at certain periods in time (in the past even the US built their nuclear plants quickly). The median time to build a nuclear plant in Japan is 52 months (about the same as a fossil fuel plant) vs 91 months in the USA. It's about red tape and the will to actually get it done. I would rather have a modern nuclear plant in my area than an onshore wind farm or a solar array. However I do love my off grid solar panels (bought 2nd hand from solar farms who sell off perfectly good panels because of the way government subsidies work). They let me have power to garden buildings instead of me running armoured cable everywhere. Solar does have a place...and that place is on a garden building rooftop.

@@bbasmdc 🙄 China installed ~80x the solar as N in H1 20x the wind. Nuclear is a bit player in China.

Labour will force decent working people to pay more in taxes to pay for all this, the politicians are already rich from the taxation of the UK and this won’t affect them but the poor will get poorer and the rich will get richer as usual.

what a shockingly bad explanation of how a Solshare system works. The point of Solshare is to make sure all the solar generation gets used, by whoever can use it at the time, and everyone gets a share. Plenty better videos on you-tube. Correctly sized, there should be very little left for a battery requirement.

Why are you talking about number of panels as if the output of panels is a standard? The company I install for has panels ranging from 370W up to our latest 750W Longi panels. Number of panels is irrelevant! Array output size is what matters... I almost fell off my chair when I saw the prices you guys were quoting. Solar is soooo much cheaper in Australia.

China makes so much of the worlds solar panels for the same reason it makes so much of other goods It’s cheaper to make them in China China is by no means doing well converting to renewable electricity, 61% of energy is still generated through coal one of the worst polluting fossil fuels, worse than natural gas and oil

This video basically doesn’t acknowledge the idea that dc compressors exist… You can now buy dc heat pumps that drastically reduces consumption… more then halving the use of solar panels to power a heat pump… I’d rather wait until someone does the video demonstration of such units then watching old technology being lifted by renewable energy…

How did you work out the required heat pump power for 5.2kW? If a heat pump of 9 kW to be used, it shouldn't draw more than 2 to 2.5 kW electricity assuming a SCoP of 3.5?

Yeah, as an experienced electrician specialising in solar installation and reverse cycle air-con installation in Australia I thought these guys sounded a bit clueless at first, but then realised they were probably factoring in UK conditions. You're dead right, the Japanese made reverse cycle air-con I install draw around 2kW of electrical input for an output of around 7-8kW of heat. Obviously in the UK with low winter irradiance you'd need to factor that in, which is why I imagine they came up with a 5.5kW solar array to effectively run it. I feel sorry for the UK people, they have to almost sell their first born to pay for their solar, so expensive compared to Australia.

What about mentioning curved tiles, they always have some surface at 90 degrees to the sun and also increase the surface area of the roof so......
@jonathanjones8442
@jonathanjones8442 10 ай бұрын
Would area covered be an advantage as would solar tiles cover more roof, and thus potentially offer a larger array (efficiency dependant).

If these cost estimates are anywhere near real I fear for the entire alternate energy future in Britain. They are very far from cost effective indeed. Fortunately, at least where I live in Canada the costs are dramatically lower and a solar powered heat pump is more affordable. My home is relatively small at 150 sq meters, but my costs for a DIY install of a 2400 BTU heat pump, ten 250 watt solar panels, a 2000 watt online UPS and 48 volt 100ah LifePo4 battery + charge controller. - total cost about 4500 British pounds. The savings compared to the preexisting baseboard heaters is almost 700 pounds a year. That's a 6 year payback, easily covering a small add on to the mortgage. Professional installation by an HVAC installer would have added at last a third more - but still a bargain compared to those UK prices. To add icing on the cake, a federal government heat pump rebate program cuts the cost in half.

Great work🤌 If you go DIY the battery and panels the costs are so very much lower. 😵 The current costs of the panels is less than £200 per KW, so £5k will can you do panels and mountings + £5k for a hybrid inverter and Battery & wiring.
