Hey man, this looks amazing, great job. What’s the deal? How does it work? Are you pulling power from the solar panels, to fill the batteries then topping the batteries up with octopus energy during the evening, so you can power the house during the day, using the batteries?

Nice work! Can you detail the panel setup wattage for the two roofs? You have 6,960 watts total available by the stickers. If you have 4,785 watts on one set and only 2,175 watts on the other set, are they wired the same or different volts/amps? It looks like a very robust system and should provide a lot of power.

I like Hager and they also have rectangular knockouts. They have a rectangular plastic insert with 20mm knockout so an earthed banjo to earth the armoured should work. Otherwise drill the metal box but hate that as wears me hole saws out ! 🤣

I would have us hospital conduit saddles , not plumbers copper pipe clip. Also the T box at the socket one screw through the centre would have been plenty . Otherwise it a nice lean in stall 👍

Can you add an electric shower circuit on a garage consumer unit
@EMEL-hr4ut
@EMEL-hr4ut 3 ай бұрын
Electric showers can have their own mini fuse board same as a garage consumer unit where there is no RCD protection on the main fuse board or there is no more room on RCD side (or room at all) to fit an RCD protected breaker. The main power supply is usually cut into with Henly Blocks to supply the shower board and the 10mm power cable feeding the shower run from that. You need at least a 40amp breaker for any decent electric shower and garage consumer units usually only come with a 32amp and 6amp (sockets and lights) so you have to get a new breaker straight off.

L/L: 0.33. N/N: 0.33. E/E: 0.63. The CPC should actually be 0.55 with a tolerance of 0.05 ohms. So the max reading for CPC is 0.60. At 0.63 it’s technically a fail. Slight loose connection somewhere

Hi mate, great video for trainees like myself. Thanks for taking the effort to film, edit & upload. Very newbie question here, but when you buy the 3core cable does it matter what the core colours are? Obviously you use brown for live but why is it black for CPC & grey for neutral? Can’t you ask for blue, brown & earth? 3phase has black grey brown and it’s confusing me! Cheers 👍🏻

Can you explain to me why there are 3 red 2.5 wires in 2 of the 32 Amp Rings? Are 2 of them for a Ring and the 3rd a fused spur maybe??? Answers Below Please .

When I did my 18th edition refresher course my teacher pointed out that you are allowed to spur off a ring Mcb with one double socket and there it was in the regs book I didn’t know. This was useful recently when I needed a double socket in a cupboard for a cctv rack but the board was full.

Does the equipotential bonding on the gas have to be before the tee on the gas outlet pipe? I know nothing about electrical requirements. Not sure how much of a difference it would make on this installation? As a gas engineer, just wondering how much of a difference it would make here? Nice tidy work on the consumer unit.
@letelectricalservices5143

Morning, The regulation like the gas bonding to be installed within 600mm from memory as stated here "The main equipotential bonding conductor connection to any gas or other service should be made as near as practicable (preferably within 600mm) to the point of entry to the premises." Hope this helps

My mentor said if it is old wiring like you have in that property, then you shouldn't really need to test at 500v. 240v should be enough. Each to their own I guess.
