Charlie Ryan had the original record which was clearly country bop/hillbilly boogie. A progressive sound at the time. Then Johnny Bond had the hit in the late 50's. His version was still hillbilly jump but was much hopped up with a group of supercharged studio backing. Faster, hotter sound. AND.. there really WAS a hot rod Lincoln. Someone put a 10 cylinder 40's Lincoln engine in a hot rod Late 20's/early 30's Ford. And there WERE Speed parts made for the 8 and 10 cylinder Lincolns. They had hot cams (prob reground) multiple carb manifolds and...high compression heads. Of course You could bore the block and stroke the crank but I NEVER heard of anyone doing that. It was mostly bolt on speed parts. I think frenzl or Obenhausen made a supercharger set up large enough for the engine. And before OHV GM engines got plentiful in mid 50's junkyards, a big Lincoln like that was competitive in early drags and on the street. So there WAS a real Hot Rod Lincoln.....Rod History 101

The Starz 'Violation' album had such sonic depth and brevity. A certain heaviness which put it in the ranks of Scorpions, Judas Priest, Aerosmith and Foreigner. Move forward to the next Starz album in 1978 and it sounds under-produced and more 'pop' oriented. That's where Starz lost their record-buying fans back-in-the-day.
