Hello! Ive got a hook on style canteen cover but an alice style nylon belt, is the hook on system compatible with that type of covers? Cause ive noticed that the eyelets on the alice belt are a bit further apart than in the m1936 style belt. Also nice video!

It's worth mentioning that the rivets in the shoulder straps in the M1928 weren't universal, some factories made them, others didn't, so you can have a correct M1928 without the rivets.

Your example a marriage. The cover/ plate is later M-1942, made using cheaper grades of steel with tin or zinc used as the rust inhibitor coating. The body is aluminum per the M-1932 specification. The applicable specifications are Can, Meat M1932 JQD 3, September 3, 1941; JQD 3a December 24, 1941, JQD 3b February 12, 1942. Can, Meat Experimental February 13 1942 Drawing B301. Can, Meat M-1942 JQD 4C, February 13, 1942 Drawing B339 and Drawing B340. The Specification for the handle assembled to Meat Can M-1932 was sheet steel similar in form to the handles assembled to Meat Can M1910 and Meat Can M1918 with the a hole added to facilitate cleaning and bowed down to keep the plate in place when assembled. The hinge specified was cast iron assembled to the pan with two rivets. Contracts for Meat Can M-1932 were opened in 1941 and 1942 utilizing a special allocation of aluminum with four contractors: The Aluminum Cooking Utensil Co. (“T.A.C.U.CO.”), New Kensington, Pennsylvania; Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Co., Manitowoc, Wisconsin, (“A.G.M.CO.); Aluminum Products Co., La Grange, Illinois (“A.P.CO.”); and Massillon Aluminum Co., (“M.A.CO.”), Massillon, Ohio.

Thanks for watching all the way from Columbia. I’m not for sure. I will have to dig it out and measure it when I get a chance but I think it’s only like two or 3 inches. It’s kind of tight to get around the grenade.

How similar is attaching the two packs together for the M1941 as compared to like the 1944/1945?

May I ask how to keep the head from sliding off its handle? Could anybody please help??? Mine is a vintage one, and the head is removable, too, but how to make it more efficient without mounting the head permanently to keep it still removable?

I found a pattern 2 cap in a McDonald’s parking lot in the late ‘70s when I was kid in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. It had a black subdued sergeant’s rank pin (E-5) on it. The owner was probably a soldier from many Camp Shelby who accidentally lost it climbing into their troop transport when they stopped by for breakfast. I still have it somewhere at my parent’s house. Haven’t finished going through everything yet after inheriting it.

Thankyou.i used this same equipment in the Australian army in the early 1980s. I found new octopus webbing from a surplus store as a kid. Years Later in the army I told a friend and fellow soldier about this webbing that may have something to do with our webbing, it did and my mate collected this stuff and traded my for it. My mate I traded with later became connected to the army history unit. I had an idea but I didn’t know how it fit together with my webbing at the time, as we didn’t use octopus webbing, now I do, thankyou

I have the jungle packs in green and camouflage as well as the M-1943. Without referencing them I would have to say that repo has some problems. The canvas used on the body looks too heavy and the originals I have seen have green straps and trim, not the khaki shade like yours.
