If you're struggling with this, there's a good KZbin channel called PainFreeYou Also, the treatment for this seems to be the same as OCD treatment, which is exposure response prevention. But I would recommend looking into to how to stop ruminating (Michael Greenberg) before you do the exposure treatment

I'm under the impression that a clinical psychologist and clinical health psychologist are different. By getting an undergraduate in psychology, pursuing a doctorate in psychology, and getting licensed, would one be able to chose either a clinical psychologist or a clinical health psychologist career?
@fenanrassu
@fenanrassu 3 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right! While closely related, there is a distinction between clinical psychologists and clinical health psychologists. Think of clinical health psychology as a specialization within clinical psychology. Completing a doctorate and licensure allows you the flexibility to choose the career path that best suits your interests. If the interplay between mental and physical health interests you, clinical health psychology might be the right fit!

Great question! The core doctoral curriculum in clinical psychology provides a broad foundation. The biggest differences in training typically happen after you earn your doctorate. Fellowships and internships toward the end/after your doctorate allow for specialized focus in different areas (e.g., health psyc, rehab psyc, neuropsyc). If you're interested in clinical health psychology, look for opportunities focused on health issues, medical settings, and the mind-body connection.

What about therapists who are trauma specialists? Is that a subdivision of counselling psychology or are there degrees you can take up to specifically become a trauma specialist?
@fenanrassu
@fenanrassu 10 ай бұрын
Hey Vlogstafy! Great question. Trauma specialists can come from various training backgrounds. It's not limited to counseling psychology, although many counseling psychologists do specialize in trauma. There are specific postgraduate trainings, certifications, and courses that individuals can take to become trauma-informed therapists, regardless of whether they have a background in clinical or counseling psychology. So, while your foundational degree provides the core skills, specializing in trauma often involves additional training and experience. Hope that clears things up a bit! Thanks for tuning in and for your insightful question. 😊

Hi Sharon, there are masters degrees in clinical psychology and some folks get them instead of going the doctorate route. Then if you want to practice providing health services to patients with your masters, you can work towards getting an "LPC", a licensure as a professional counselor. One place that offers terminal masters degrees, for instance, is University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.

Salary of clinical psychologist in foreign country's?

Hi Madalsa, That's a tough question, I'm sure the answer would depend on several factors including the country, the clinical psychology specialty (neuropsychology, rehabilitation psychology, pediatric psychology, etc.), and how many years one has been practicing. In the U.S., below are two recent manuscripts discussing salaries for neuropsychologists and rehabilitation psychologists. Hopefully these can serve as a starting point! Sweet, J. J., Klipfel, K. Hi Beewith, most folks apply with a psychology bachelor's, but other degrees are acceptable. Depending on the program, especially the more competitive ones, they'd like to see that you have taken some psyc courses (e.g., intro, abnormal psyc, psychology stats). One thing that makes graduate school for psychology so tricky compared to let's say medical school is that the requirements are not the same across all programs. But most programs will list out the requirements for applications on their website!

So in order to truly overcome chronic pain (i.e., human suffering, more broadly speaking), you’d have to change the world. Although a tall order that seems impossible… It may also be incredibly healing for people who are constantly given so many individual tools (which are also important, because even minor amounts of coping-related relief can instill a sense of free-will that can also make you feel good (which, importantly, is not the same thing as decreasing pain)) but still can’t get real and full relief :-)
