San Diego is where MARINES are made. I got punched in the face and hit with a toaster. It really changed the way I saw things. It's where the called my mother a bitch and my girlfriend a whore and now I get to wear some cool T shirts and hats! Would I do it again? No, because I can't but I would watch someone else go through it. Cue up "Full Metal Jacket" with some old Marine friends and enjoy the laughs fir the first 20+ minutes because the all know what's about to happen even if they've never seen it before.

I just got out of MCRD PI and i don’t think that bs hasn’t really crept into the marine corps. That’s why i joined the marines, it was the only branch i was going to join. It was not as tough and crazy as i thought it would be but it was a great experience. Not like Full metal jacket lol

This film should be required training for all current Marine Corps leadership and that includes OCS, WOBC, Sergeant Major and 1st Sergeant courses, Staff Academy, Corporal’s and Sergeant’s courses and bootcamp. The Marine Corps has started to conform to society over the last decade and we never did before. We set our own standards and then raise the bar. Nuff said.

I really liked those "Rose Garden Posters" of the U.S.M.C.. The Army poster/sign was saying "Today's Army wants to join You". That was about 1974 time period. The Navy sign said: "It's not just a job, it's an Adventure". Can't recall the Air Force or Coast Guard recruiting signs in the early 1970's. Cpl. 0331, S.T.A.P. 3/4/3 and 3/5/1 .

04/1970,old ft. Wayne induction into the military. After swearing oath, were put in a large room. Suddenly the door burst open. The guy said stand to attention! Count off by 2"s. Then he said all even or odd # to step forward.(i can't remember) He went down the line all around the room and picked 10 new inductees.both dudes on each side of me stepped forward. The guy got his 10 and told them to fall in behind him at the open door. When that was done he said loudly to the 10 in his line;" you are now in the United States Marine Core! They were short 10 inductees to make up a new formed platoon"!! It all happened so fast as i watched them trundle out the door single file out of sight. I wondered off n on over the past 50 yrs if any were sent to Nam? But the Marines pulled out of Nam i think in late 1970 or early 1971. So they all did ok hopefully.
