The Marines have landed, a simple phrase but when the enemy hears it they know it's over, Belleau was never supposed to be taken, Wake Island should have been easy, and Iwo Jima impossible, but some young man and his brothers instilled with all that comes from earning that eagle globe and anchor just would not quit, at at his side was a legion of ghosts an invisible spirit on leave from street guard duty in heaven, Marines are born and raised in hell in preparation for hell, but they are guaranteed their final post guarding the streets in heaven. It is not a branch it is a breed, there is no song because miraculous deeds require a hymn. "God, Corps, Country".

This video was filmed in 2002 and 2003. My platoon is all in this video. Especially during the crucible. I remember MCCS coming out and filming it. Little backstory, This is right when we invaded Iraq. A lot of the guys in this video like me, joined after 9/11 and knew they were going to war. A lot of Marines in this video were either injured or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The black Drill instructor is staff sergeant Hebron. He was one of my drill instructors and he was also injured in Iraq and received a purple heart. This is probably one of the last groups of drill instructors That were on the drill field before Iraq and Afghanistan. I was with an infantry unit at camp Pendleton and we had already finished our first deployment to Iraq. Most of us were pretty decorated with combat action ribbons, bronze Stars and purple hearts. After we got back from our first deployment, some of these drill instructors came to our unit. They had never seen combat but we had and there were the guys that had trained us.

I have to disagree. When I got home from bootcamp, I fell right back into bad habits probably a week later. I reenlisted twice and did my time honorably. I guess it all boils down to how much they can break you down mentally. I was a pretty average recruit and never drew negative attention. I guess you could say I joined for all the wrong reasons. The financial crisis hit when I joined and I was looking for a steady stream of income and the military was the ticket. my pros and cons were always 4.5/4.5 and I kept myself out of trouble.
