Very nice build. I enjoy seeing home built units. You Texans caused me to build a solar generator on wheels after your last year's unexpected Polar Vortex deep freeze. I live in the PRK and we have had grid troubles and rolling blackouts since 2017. Mine unit is 7200 watt hours of home assembled EVE Lithium cells, 560AH, 3000/6000 watt Renogy pure sine inverter, 30 amp Renogy Rover MPPT, Aims 75 amp onboard charger in case the sun doesn't shine and the Honda eu 2000 generator has to come out. The fun part was that I got it temporarily running on the work bench and used it to power my Vulcan wire feed welder. The frame is made from square steel tubing and it sits on caster wheels. It weighs 130 pounds. The 30 amp MPPT wasn't enough for me so I piggy backed on another 40 amp Renogy Elite MPPT to blast amps back into the battery with 900 watts of panels. Lithium batteries can take insane amps with no harm. I use mine every day since June 2021. I like your angle iron frame.
@scottbradford1922 жыл бұрын
Now that lithium batteries have gotten so cheap I am headed that direction also. At the time I made this cart they were much more expensive. SLA are very heavy!!

The coil of coax makes a RF choke out of the outside shield of the coax. Simply adds some amount inductance and depending on what frequency you are using it presents an impedance to RF coming down the outside of the coax. No effect on what’s inside the coax. Short RG 8X coax does not have much loss, so that’s fine. The ground is pretty much useless. Disconnecting the coax is everything. Too many hams think a ground is necessary and solves all problems when most of the time it makes the situation worse or unsafe! IF using a ground rod it must be connected back to the main power ground rod for the house. Some antennas like end fed wires need either a ground or counterpoise to work very well. I try and avoid them in most cases. Center fed dipole is best all round antenna you can have. Several dipoles connected on one feedline is excellent. Two per feedline is very easy to manage..

Why haven’t you used a thin wire antenna from the roof over to the small tree and then to a corner of the fence? You could also do a loop antenna around the top of your fence. Both of these would outperform the ham stick by a long way!
