Backyard HF antenna setup for small space

This video walks through my backyard HF setup with minimal cost and footprint. I've tried a few options and this is where I've back around to. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably go with a Wolf River setup, but this will show you some other ideas.

I have a blue 5 gallon bucket from Lowe’s with 3’ of PVC concreted in. Inside of the pvc tube is a painters pole that I have attached a 20 meter dipole in an inverted Vee configuration. The ends of the dipole are attached with cord to fences in the yard. So far it has withstood 75 mph wind. But tell you what, that bucket is a bear to move.

agreed. I currently use my concrete bucket to hold up my bug zapper on the patio. It's only 1/3 full but it's still REALLY heavy

Bro, that`s just a cheap CB radio firestick... You should put that up in the air, not so low as possible to the ground

Why haven’t you used a thin wire antenna from the roof over to the small tree and then to a corner of the fence? You could also do a loop antenna around the top of your fence. Both of these would outperform the ham stick by a long way!

Get the mfj1979 whip you’ll get a full 20m radiator, you be shocked of the DX you get or how far you go out

I'm now using a sharks antenna 20m vertical in the corner of the yard with radials, or an inverted vee in a park up the road

It’s called a ground mounted vertical antenna,using a ham stick as the vertical radiator.

Agreed. Way too short. I didn't know any better when I bought it and I didn't have any better options at the time. I'm now using a efhw

I would be very interested in what ratio you used for the unun, if you're using a counterpoise, and how long it is etc...thanks!
