Thanks for sharing the facts! Just want to correct the pronunciation of jade in Mandarin - the ‘u’ sound is pronounced quite differently from the English ‘u’, as it’s actually the ‘ü’ sound. It’s probably one of the hardest pronunciation in Mandarin (alongside the ‘q’ and ‘x’ sounds), as there is no direct equivalent pronunciation in other languages. This is the proper way to pronounce 玉. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpbaooKKm7-rr8U

I made a chakra bracelet for my husband a year or so ago and used a nephrite jade bead (at least that's what it was sold as) but, it has the 'melted' look now. The beads feel cold and has the weight, and look and feel waxy. I wear the same one but mine is fine. I'm starting to wonder if it was fake nephrite jade.

The Spanish inquisition had no power to judge or torture the indigenous people, as they were considered new Christians. Terrible knowledge of how the Spanish imperial system worked in these lands. The inquisition was stablished in the viceroyalty of Nueva España in 1569, many decades after the conquest.

Jade is rooted very deep in China cultures, and yet China is responsible for producing the majority of the fake jades that have been sold across the world 😢. The Chinese are destroying the reputation of their own cultures and values of their own traditions.

I picked from a tank and had them opened and one had a Beautiful Black pearl in it. Not dyed but dug right out of the Oyster. So what about that?
@PearlparadiseLA8 күн бұрын
There are factories in China that insert the pearls into the baby shells. They are then dropped into a chemical solution that causes them to constrict and die. It then appears as though a pearl is being harvested when it is opened in front of the customer. This is a very old gimmick that has been going on for decades. The pearl you received was indeed dyed before it was inserted into the shell. This is covered in the video :)

I’m surprised they’ve never discussed Mings of Honolulu, which was a generation’s go-to place for jade - not great jade typically, but definitely wearable and distintive.
@JewelsoftheTrade15 күн бұрын
@@theniknaknook7109 I’ll occasionally come across Ming’s pieces, but a lot of customers hang onto them so they’re not as common on the secondhand market as one would think. If I ever get my hands on a piece from Ming’s, I’ll definitely show it on the channel.
