If you're playing man-to-man defense you go wherever the man you are covering goes if he goes beyond the three-point line you go out there with them but here's the thing in the NBA you're not allowed to contest jump shots for fear of having to jump shooter come down on your feet and twists his ankle so you're not allowed to contest jump shots so honestly he's not the greatest shooter he should be shooting 90/96 percent from the field and he's not. He's shooting uncontested shots by design by the NBA.

You can contest but not to the point where your feet is in the landing area. That makes sense. If you were shooting a 3 and your defending is in your landing space. You land and messed your ankle up and your out for a season or more, what would you say? And besides even if they pick him up full court, it doesn't matter, he never stops moving, his endurance is longer than anyone in the NBA. That's how he gets free and slips from the defender. When other NBA player go and train with him he has to water down his work out and they still can't do it. If you were in your best shape your probably could guard him like your saying.
