Would be good to check any filters on the system, any debris in these would restrict the flow rate, pump speeds and system pressure. Also with the underfloor heating make sure that it is operating correctly, there is a “basic fault finding” guide for underfloor heating in the underfloor heating playlist - hope this helps

Does it reduce the compressor's RPM (power delivered)? If so, is this good way to compensate oversized heat pump?
@i85_Heat_Pumps10 күн бұрын
That is an excellent question! So The noise reduction mode reduces the fan speed and compressor speed. I haven’t been able to confirm if this is a good way to compensate for an oversized unit from Vaillant, but it makes sense

I have solar and battery and will have a heat pump installed in early March. I appreciate your figures for reference. Additionally, if you installed or have a solar battery and EV charger you can achieve a 7p import cost on Octopus Go bringing down your operating costs even further.
@i85_Heat_Pumps13 күн бұрын
Yes, I do agree! A battery would be a massive benefit to the system especially being able to get electric at 7p per Kw! Would be interesting to see how much lower we could get the electric cost down by!
@CR-rm4iy15 күн бұрын
are principles to save on electricity the same when running a heat pump as with a closed system modern boiler? So keep the temps on low, TRVs and so on? I worked in one modern building and it doesn't have openable windows, but it has AC controls in every room... care to elaborate - is it for the efficiency of a heat pump?
@JakeBrumby15 күн бұрын
Update: my comment below was particularly to do with the battery but this property does not have a battery, so it isn't relevant. Instead, it would be interesting to know the cost to install the heat pump versus the cost of installing a gas boiler and the annual running costs of each. This would help understand the total lifetime cost of switching from gas boiler to heat pump. That's incredibly cheap for 1 year of running costs but what was the cost of installing the heat pump, battery and solar? It is essential to know that, to decide whether it was worth the investment. A 10 year payback would be outstanding; a 20 year payback would probably be acceptable (because the homeowner would have close to zero bills for many years afterwards) but a 30 year payback wouldn't be worth the high upfront cost.
@i85_Heat_Pumps15 күн бұрын
Not bad for a year is it! This system has been in for over 4 years now Unsure everyone always focus’s on payback with heat pumps…
@Biggest-hz7ng15 күн бұрын
There's no battery. Solar probably has a good payback time, depending on cost. Heat pump looks to be significantly cheaper than a gas boiler? If 3.1 is roughly equivalent energy cost, 4.9 might be 40% cheaper, saving £130 per year?
@MentalLentil-ev9jr14 күн бұрын
A friend just bought a new car, he says it's better than the old one, nobody asked him about the payback time. If I'd fitted a new gas boiler, nobody would ask about the payback time, even though I would have needed new radiators as the old ones were too small and some in the wrong places. It seems only green technologies require a payback time for them to be worthwhile. My heat pump works far better than the gas boiler did, the house is much more comfortable, that in itself makes it worth the investment. Even more important, I'm producing a fraction of the CO2 I used to, that makes the money well spent. At some point almost all houses will need to have a heat pump, despite Milliband and co reneging on the current timetable for the phasing out of gas boilers, at some point the investment will have to be made and once the house is upgraded with new radiators, fitting a new heat pump is not expensive.
@i85_Heat_Pumps14 күн бұрын
I couldn't agree more with all of this!
@Biggest-hz7ng13 күн бұрын
@@JakeBrumby Heat pump efficiency varies by install. A reasonable install might break even on energy cost for the heat pump versus gas boiler. So if you were concerned mostly with payback you might look at upfront cost after the grant. I anticipate that over time gas taxes/levies will increase relative to electricity and some might consider there an advantage to get onto a low carbon heat source earlier. If you are able to obtain a good install the cost benefit depends on knowing the upfront cost, annual energy spend and the saving (efficiency of the boiler versus heat pump with their fuels).

For the underfloor heating? • Function test all components • check for leaks and/ or damage to manifold and/ or components • Check flow rates match the design for each loop • Check heating fluid water quality, flush system if needed • Check how the underfloor heating is being operated, this will based on the heat source that you are using (boiler, heat pump etc) and your electric tariff
@ClaireWill71ukАй бұрын
My social landlord installed the Mitsubishi Ecodan system in March 2011. Since then, every part has failed, leaked, and been replaced 3-5 times, including outside pump unit x 4, tanks, pipes, compressors, radiators, motherboards, and the wireless control panel. The last replacement took 13 days, during which we had no heat while my husband was in palliative care. He was admitted to the hospital and caught COVID; on top of 4 different cancers (Brain, Lung, Blood and Skin) he passed away by mid-April 2023 after 13 years fight. My electric bill for a two-bedroom bungalow, where I live as a disabled widow, has exceeded £4,000 in last 12months. Since the landlord’s contractors locked me out of any adjustments except for heating on the wireless control panel, both options for scheduling and adjusting the heat or water are unavailable (grayed out). Even the holiday mode won’t allow any input. The hot water is set to run all day, recycling at 48°C. I used to heat the water once daily during off-peak hours and use emergency heat if needed. I have a power shower and mainly use hot water for washing up. I have to boil water to wash up properly. My home is equipped with smart devices that turn lights, security cameras, appliances, and other equipment on and off as I move from room to room to stay safe and well. The average temperature inside my home is 15°C from October to May. The house, built in 1954, contains asbestos. Despite this, my landlord flatly refuses to allow the addition of any modular components to my smart home. They have even threatened me and my late husband with future service or repair costs if I were to install a MelCloud device-an authorized Mitsubishi component that is software-based and manufactured specifically for the Mitsubishi Ecodan air pump heating system. This device is used in thousands of homes worldwide. Being able to control and schedule my heating would significantly reduce waste and make my heating more affordable. However, the landlord claims that installing the MelCloud would damage the system/hardware. Can anyone explain the technical basis for this assumption in detail?
@i85_Heat_PumpsАй бұрын
MELCloud will not damage the system, it is designed by Mitsubishi for your heat pump, it will allow remote access for end user and Mitsubishi where you may be able to benefit from remote software updates

This sort of scenario happens a lot, unfortunately it’s not possible to restrict the temperature ranges on the SensoComfort. But there are other options, you can lock the control with the button on the top, which they will figure out very quick Move the SensoComfort out of range from people Hide the SensoComfort in a locked cupboard and change the room temp mod to inactive and reduce the heat curve a little Or fit a 3rd part thermostat so that you can lock or temperature restrict the heating.
