I spoke to many homeless Vietnam vets on the streets of San Mateo, California as a child, under the age of 12, growing up and they all carried the same heavy sadness with them that he does. Then when I went to University in 1997 at San Jose State I saw a man sitting in his car crying with the window slightly rolled down in a Mc Donald's parking lot near campus. I got out of boyfriend's truck and asked him what was wrong and can I some how help him. To my total shock he replied that today/that day was the anniversary of his buddies death in Vietnam. I instantly cried with him, remembering the shared pain from all those other vets I met ten or twelve years earlier. I would have never guessed that he too was a vet. The pain is deep and very real and now we have so many new vets from recent wars. Its just terrible. 😞

I think if a kid wants to join at 15/16 let them do it. We have so many homeless kids, get them off the streets and away from drugs. DS are much better parents than most have.

Our fallen brothers and sisters live on in our memories and the stories we tell of them. They are never truly lsot as long as we remember them. Only in death does a soldier know peace.

My father-in-law was a ranger there. I didn't find out till after he died. But before he passed he advised me to go with a .45 because when you shot someone, they went down. I took his advice.

The real heroes were Richard Halsey Best, Nimitz and Edwin Layton. Richard destroyed 2 carrier ships in just one day he was leading squadron 6. Layton and a bunch of codebreakers predicted that pearl harbor was gonna get attacked but the commander before Nimitz didn't believe it.and then Layton and Nimitz predicted the midway attack. Huge respect for those 3 people

My Peepaw volunteered at 17 to the Army AirCorps. He became a navigator and told me they crossed trained him to be a bombardier. The Luftwaffe were so good they would aim at the bombardiers position to try and stop the plane from dropping bombs. When it happened he told me he had to go down there and do it himself. Should've asked how many missions he flew.

the day after 9/11 I called my old USAF unit to see if they needed people - I was ready to go. As it turns out, they did not need any 40 year old crew chiefs... and I found my way over there as a contractor.

My take from all these videos is that there's nothing good that comes out of war. People go through hell and try to find a reason to make it make sense, because if it doesn't exist then all they did and went through, all the people who died, did it for nothing. Or worse, so some stupid politician makes some money or gains some votes. But that's the truth. Travelling to the other side of the world to murder people is not honorable and it shouldn't be.
