My son changed houses and no longer needed his dual zone sprinkler because his new rental house has zero landscape front yard, I could use a 3 zone timer, but a dual is better than remembering to switch between front and back, now I must remember to switch east or west of back yard sprinkler😁 My water pressure is low due to many multi family homes replacing single family in my neighborhood, thanks UN Agenda 21/30! Maybe its a man explaining to a woman, your the second YTer I didn't get how to program my timer.

I was looking forward to this video! The cattle panel trellis connecting the two beds, whether Kingbird or your board bed is a great idea. I bet the metal will straighten out over time, with the weight of vegetation, but if not, the grapes/melons/ pumpkins will for sure hide any flaws!

looks delish! some tips to possibly help: turn the loaf onto its side while you cut. it lessens the amount of squishing the bread deals with. also, make sure you’re waiting for the loaf to be absolutely totally cool before cutting! otherwise the steam will be released and the inside of the loaf wont finish cooking so it’ll have more of a gummy texture than nice fluffy

I had a 27 gallon plastic tote the bottom broke out of. I used it as a mini raised bed for my granddaughter's sunflowers. I thought the high sides would give them support. That was true, but I skipped your step of cardboard & brush in the bottom, just set up on grassy lawn, plenty of bagged soil. Transplant the sunflowers into it. MISTAKE TO SKIP THE CARDBOARD!! And the brush probably would have helped a lot, too! The grass has not climbed thru the 18 in of bagged soil, but it sucks ALL the moisture out of the bed!! We have a 15 gallon gro bag right next to the bottomless tote, and it requires half as much water!! (I agree with Lucy, her flowers would look lovely in the new Kingbird bed!!)
@onceuponatinyfarm
@onceuponatinyfarm 25 күн бұрын
I think the cardboard definitely helps that first year to keep weeds and grasses down. Then when it breaks down it just feeds the worms! We’re growing a lot of things in 10 gallon grow bags this year, okra, potatoes, tomatoes, basically anything extra plants I don’t have space for in the garden beds I throw into the grow bags.

@onceuponatinyfarm Ай бұрын
When I first trialed this it was winter so I was storing the rice in our shed in a bucket but it was only 3 days worth at a time. Freezing them in batches for different days would also be a good option and maybe you could make a weeks worth at once and take them out to thaw the night before. Currently I’m cooking each days portion fresh and I think they like that best.

The trellis idea of simply pounding the stake into the ground outside the metal bed is a wonderful solution. I'm looking for ward to your "Build a Trellis for a Metal Bed" video!! The chicken compost is GREAT! My granddaughter's Bantam hens and my Barred Rocks are only 3 1/2 mos old, but they are making some great compost in their chicken yard. No eggs for a couple months, but we have our first batch of compost. I'm surprised and pleased that our chickens, raised together from hatch, are still getting along fine even tho the size difference is considerable.

@onceuponatinyfarm

@@stephencameron1709 I do think it will create some heat. It would have been better if the grass had time to dry out in the sun before adding it. Or if it had access to straw that would’ve been better. But I’m not planting anything in it right away since it’s already so hot so hopefully in a week or so it will have broken down some.

How did you escape the HATED PEST Colorado Potato beetle?!? I haven't grown potatoes in years just because this striped red & tan beetle EATS ALL THE FOLIAGE OF POTATOES!! it is really the only devasting insect I deal with, so I shouldn't complain. Thank you for showing the results of gro bags v.s. raised bed!!! I've wondered about it. I know you said that the compost in the gro bags was a year old, maybe made a big difference. My experience with gro bags so far is that being denied access to the ground beneath hampers plant growth. And the gro bags need a lot more water.
@onceuponatinyfarm
@onceuponatinyfarm Ай бұрын
Yes I have realized that they do need a lot more water but I’m going to try it again with another round of potatoes but give the grow bags all fresh compost so it’s a more even experiment.
