Old post.. but is it normal to feel a bit of a bulge through the back of the case? About q 1/3 of the way from the end(opposite to battery end) looking at your video I'd guess it was the black part, between the screw holes on the board, that intersects with the red wire.

Hello I bought noco gb40 5-6 years ago. All this time I never really use it. It was fully charged inside my car. I tried 3-4 times to jump a car but sadly it didn't make it. I tried it fully charged and with bypass option but nothing. I wonder if inside battery is dead due to lifetime. I should write that I put on charge not often. Every year or every year and half. Could you tell me please if my device could be fixed or is garbage?

I recently repaired a unit with a similar issue except the unit was not intermittently working. One of the 1000uf caps in the power supply was shorted.

A question: I have a 3kw step down toroidal transformer (220 V to 110 V), but I have three outputs instead of four (one of the coils - I don't know which one has the ends connected, resulting in a single wire) How do I connect the terminals with the input as to obtain 110 V at the output? Normally I should have 4 wires: two from the first coil and then from a two coils and in this way, it was easy to connect

I had the same problem where the lights were going on and off when I used the blinkers. The job is heaps and I mean heaps easier if you remove the steering wheel.

Have one, surprised it did not charge anymore after about 4 years, so I bought a new one from Amazon and did a direct swap with my old one, put it in the box and got a refund.....not ethical but was pissed. Let noco take the loss.

Nice, thanks for the tear-down ; my work career has been in the electronics PCB design for 40+ years. I have a GBX75 and a GB150, they work well. I really like the form-factor on these units too.

Just wondering if this fix lasted the distance and if a new combination had to be bought anyway after too long?

Thank for this small info, I live in Canada and the voltage is the same as the USA. I've bought a transfomer that have the same comfig as yours. Now I know how to wire it. Thank you.

The center rotating part with the commutator is the armature. The rotor is a metal mass with windings and slip rings, used in car alternators.

Nothing to worry about. These capacitors are small and will empty quickly but the charger stays for sometimes as it is high ohmic.

For your own safety, the next time you're working around a device containing a battery, please remove your conductive jewelry - a battery capable of starting a car can deliver enough energy into that wedding ring that you could loose the finger.

I could not take the rear break disc out so you can replace the bearings without taking rear disc break out. I used a hydraulic press to put the bearings in place but also works fine with hammer and a hard piece of wood :)

I still want to know how that black magic works on starting completely dead batteries, I seen a GB40 start a BMW with a dead battery in the trunk, the batteries in BMW's are rated at 900cca's because there in the trunk far from the starter, and that damn thing still started!!
@clange502 жыл бұрын
Right. All the arguing about specs, all I know is they work. I made some comments on this vid 3 years ago, still using the same gb40 (albeit rarely), and it still does its job.

I've started a completely dead, 0v battery in a 6.8l V10 gas engine. I did have to let the battery booster charge the dead battery for a few minutes. Cranking was slow, but it did start. Device was in protect mode after engine start. State of charge light was 25%. Plugged in to charge and it was flashing 25% light, so it was pretty dead. The GB40 was definitely not sold as being able to start this large engine, but it still did it. No issues at all starting 1.6l NA and 2.0l turbo engines with 0v battery.
