There is much restraint in this interpretation of “Over the Rainbow.” Jarrett can play this tune thousands of different ways. His mood here is simple, free and clear. He’s not concerned with swinging, advanced chord substitutions or technically driven solo lines in this performance. I hear influence of Bach. Personally, I don’t like his body language when he plays. It brings pornography to mind. That’s why I prefer to listen to Jarrett than watch him. He probably wouldn’t like me in his audience because I occasionally sneeze. Jarrett brings so out many emotions in his audience. He’s a creative genius , a fusspot, a virtuoso, a Prima Donna all in one. He’s not my favorite pianist, but he has mastered the craft. I play “ Over the Rainbow “ on the piano often. I enjoy playing it more than listening to others play it. I certainly can do a lot more to it than Jarrett is doing in this performance, but then again this is a tiny fraction of what Jarrett is capable. There is a lot to learn from this and a lot to like and dislike. That’s music. We should thank both Jarrett and Harold Arlen for this.

Sta ik in Kopenhagen in een pashokje, hoor ik ineens dit liedje. Buiten gekomen blijkt het toch nog steeds 2024 te zijn. Maar wel een Nederlandse winkel.

Deep true sentiment without sentimentality. The occult polyphony Schumann would have envied. The Irish Traumerai - for those with ears. But with an elegiac elegance beyond that tradition. And a a bit of piquant gospel-esque. He does this timeless arc of a melody true justice. Impossible to put in words this masterful utterance.

Bing Crosby - True Love Lyrics: Suntanned Windblown Honeymooners at last alone. Feeling far above par. Oh, how lucky we are! While I give to you And you give to me, True love, true love. So on and on It'll always be, True love, true love. For you and I Have a guardian angel On high, with nothin' to do. But to give to you And to give to me, Love forever true. For you and I Have a guardian angel On high, with nothing to do. But to give to you And to give to me, Love forever true. Love forever true. Written by: Cole Porter Album: Songs That Make You Want To Dance - Songs From Strictly Come Dancing, Vol. 1 Released: 2011 Lyrics provided by Musixmatch

Aside from the hilarity of Frank Sinatra wearing a white suit, white bowtie, and white shoes, standing on a white platform, surrounded by an orchestra in the same color, all while singing a song from the perspective of a black person, Frankie's voice never sounded better, and the orchestra accompanied him very nicely.

Brings me back 50 years ago ... when I was trapped in a dirty hole of a country at the end of the Earth ... there were only TWO one hour shows on radio with current Northern Hemisphere progressive and non-commercial music, in an anti-american /european era ... I am so glad to hear this again ... now knowing the USA is the greatest place which I could ever want to be.

Time after time I tell myself that I'm So lucky to be loving you So lucky to be The one you run to see In the evening when the day is through I only know what I know The passing years will show You've kept my love so young, so new And time after time You'll hear me say that I'm So lucky to be loving you I only know what I know The passing years will show You've kept my love so young, so new And time after time You'll hear me say that I'm So lucky to be loving you
