On the control chart, the bell shaped curve is backwards. Values on the low end are on the top of the chart instead of the bottom, and vice-versa.

great video. something i don't understand. don't i determine what USL and LSL are? why it determined by the results of the process?
@CQEAcademy
@CQEAcademy 16 күн бұрын
Great question, okay so think about how that calculation is made. We take the natural variation from the process itself, and we go out 3 standard deviations to create those upper/lower control limits. So we call those UCL/LCL the "Voice of the Process" because they reflect the natural variation in the process.

How do we know the smaple sized needed? We make 20000 bolts a day and about 100 are rejected. We want to reduce scrap. Do we need spc? If so how many samples and what time interval is needed. No other knowledge is useful if we dont know this. The operators can just make 20 good parts and turn them in and say all is well.

Hello, I stumbled upon your channel during my research on CQE. Thank you for all the informative videos you post; they are really helpful. I have a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and a master's degree in Pharmaceutics, both from India. I got a job as a Software Quality Engineer in the US, and I have 5 years of experience. My work mostly involves manual testing of software applications for a medical device company, but I do not have any experience in the quality testing of actual devices. Now, I want to switch my career to quality control. 1. Does the CQE certification help me get into quality control with no prior experience? 2. What kind of salary can I expect? 3. Am I eligible to take the CQE with my education and past experience? If not, is there any other certification I can pursue to help me switch my career? Thank you, and I appreciate your response.

The square root is a mathematical calculation. You may want to google search the actual operation because it’s a bit long to explain through text

I always viewed x bar & r charts as the x belongs to the operator (it’s what they can adjust), the r belongs to management (equipment, tooling, material, environment). Unfortunately to many managers want everything to fall to the operator, hence actual improvement is not possible.

That’s an interesting take. I’ve never heard it explained that way. IMHO, special cause variation can effect either chart so I don’t usually distinguish responsibility like that

How can you calculate the control limits with your formula? I thought the limits were given on the blue print.

The specifications of a dimension are given on a blueprint. Specifications are not the same as control limits.

Thanks for the nice explanation. It's a bit counter intuitive to say that the average time to failure is 2996 hours even though all the tests lasts to 1000 hour only. so maybe the rest of 14 unit will fail at an hour later after the 1000 hr if we continue testing! A more precise failure rate will be using the units until failure then averaging that time out. good learning everybody !
