I'm here because KZbin fed me a short clip where Bob called Mary/Joanna on the Newhart show, Emily/Susanne during a taping of the show. It's funny they used that mistake to end this show.

My NBC affiliate WYFF TV 4 in Greenville SC aired the series finale of The Cosby Show in its entirety. After that, I think they went back to the LA Riots coverage.

This retcon also had an affect on another show. Larry, Darryl and Darrell did a guest spot on Coach in the first season (maybe even the very first episode), so that means that series was also part of Bob's dream world.

They appeared in the Bob Newhart Show 19th Anniversary special where it was Bob talking about the dream to the rest of the cast. It ends with Bob waiting at an elevator, it opens and they are inside working on the lights and Bob then decides to take the stairs. So maybe he saw them before and that's why they were in the dream?

I remember watching this when I was a kid. I didn't understand the significance of it all. As I recall, my parents were cracking up. I've since become acquainted with the works of Ms. Pleshette and I think Mr. Newhart was lucky to have had her as his “first wife” and Ms. Frann as his “second wife.”
