1989 was a great gaming year and we enjoyed many good games back in the day...What a great and detailed review you have done there! I agree with you in most of the things you spotted! Back in the day i played that game in a green monitor cpc 6128 so i did n't see the blue black compination but the just shades of green! Although i enjoyed it and could complete it without cheats! I saw the other home computers versions later when i bought the rest machines! I haven't completed any other version than c64 with trainer and i am waiting for a whdload Amiga version with infinite energy to do so on my 030 amiga 1200! I also can't find a working 128k version for my divide on +3! Only 48k and i can't pass the first level...So i will wait for that and avoid emulators for now... I have never seen the other versions though but i must admit that msdos version was good and if it had sound it would be higher in rank! The console versions where unknown to me and i really liked the nes one as it is a better version than the home computers one! The SNES version is an improved version visually and in sound and it has so many changes that it is not the same game after all! I think that it has lost some of the nostalgia magic of the other versions but that is my opinion! I am waiting for your next review!!! :)

The SNES game was the one i played, I never saw the 1993 show as a kid so I was confused at first why none of the characters looked the way they did in the movie when i first got it but I still liked the game.

People forget the impact SEGA's disney titles made at the time. It was one of the games that people took notice of the genesis and what it could do. Elements from this game was used for Sonic, mainly the character moving when you stop playing the game for a few minutes. It also had an impact on future disney license games. Emiko Yamamoto, was one of the main designers of the illusion games and she ended up joining square where she produced kingdom hearts. SEGA threw down the guantlet and everyone had to step up their game when it came to disney. However the SEGA of america produced disney games nearly ruined SEGA's reputation of producing great disney games with not only fantasia but the little mermaid and tailspin which either had bad graphics, gameplay or both. SEGA europe manage to contribute when SEGA hired Traveler tales to do the megadrive/genesis version of Toy Story.

This is why SEGA my fave games developer and publisher. Because of the sheer variety of games. How many companies that offered you FMV games to 3D polygon games and console only games and old school arcade ports? All on one system or spread across various SEGA systems. A combination of west and east game deelopment and ideas. There's no one that can touch SEGA's catalouge when it comes down to it whatever you think of the games themselves, its cool.

I"m still scarred by saving up my money as a kid to get the 32X and upgrade both my Genesis and Sega CD, only for Sega to cancel it a year later. I didn't buy a Saturn, PSX or N64 as a result. Jumped back in with Dreamcast and then Sega did me dirty again.

SEGA got this because they became a partner with Dreamworks and universal Gameworks chain in the states which ended up with SEGA making more attraction style arcade games being released in the U.S. than there were before. Speilberg was in charge of the project and at that time was close to SEGA with them making the Jurrasic Park arcade and console sega games. SEGA only had the license for one game but since speilberg was impressed with SEGA and them both involved in gameworks, it wasnt hard to talk george lucas i giving SEGA the license whiccch would benefit all parties as george was prepping the special ditions. STAR WARS TRILOGY ARCADE and the following year STAR WARS RACER ARCADE game was one of the new first run exclusive attractions for gameworksstateside. However as we all know ultimatly SEGA's plan of expanding their arcade attraction parks outside of japan failed as their two major ones at the time, SEGA world trocaderoand SEGA sydney closed, but gameworks lasted longer into the early 2010s until SEGA sold it off

I disagree with your opinion on which 8-bit version of the game is better! This is my favorite game ever so consider me as an expert on it! So although c64's sound is better ( sid classic... ), i prefer the more coloured version of the cpc on which the batwing behaves better and when you touch an enemy on air you don't fall down as in the c64 version in which the enemies in level 1-5 behave strangely with a bad pattern! You must also mention that the cpc second stage is the most playable than all 8bit's! Cpc version is also the only version with the full ending batman logo screen! In my opinion cpc is first, c64 is second but close enough is the speccy version in which the forth level is extremely flickering and very difficult to play! I also want to mention something strange for the 16bit versions...the st version has some cut scenes and lose screens which aren't available in the amiga version! I don't know why and my only thought is that there wasn't enough space in the disks! We certainly agree though on the superiority og the amiga version! What a game in it's era and certainly sold many amigas with that pack!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for that and your comments are duly noted. It’s just my opinion. I was slightly disappointed with the Batman appearance of the Amstrad CPC.
