A couple of technical questions: Do you fix your charcoal drawing so it doesn't mix with your paints? And, are you using Open acrylics, otherwise, how do you keep them from drying out (especially in the hot Florida sun!)? Thanks!
@Bansemer9 күн бұрын
I probably didn't fix the charcoal when I did this as I didn't carry fixative with me. It really doesn't mix with the paint enough to bother. It mostly just disappears when painting over it and probably mixes in a bit but not a problem. I don't use open acrylics. Tried them but don't like them. I use liquitex heavy body acrylics. When they dry I put out more.

South Haven is my go to vacation spot, 6 hour drive from Lexington Kentucky. All l do when l go there is breakfast and sunsets, everything else l do is a bonus. There are usually 300 to 400 people watching the sunset every night

The way you kept the grass colors etc muted makes this come across as an early photograph. Very nice. Roger, what is this classified as? Would it be a still life?

Mr Rodger as always I enjoyed watching you paint. And loves the banks of your Ravine the colors that were in it ,but we didn't get to see (any of his work at all )nor was he asked to show( his pallet) your your friend David .😢😢😢

You didn't get to see his palette, etc as I only have so many cameras to film with at one time. You did get to see his work though I'm pretty sure.

I love your paintings. Do you have a preference for acrylics or oils?
@BansemerАй бұрын
I use both about the same on large paintings, acrylics sometimes and sometimes oils. On small pieces I almost always use acrylics.

Everyone...just close your eyes....calm yourself....and picture looking at what you want to draw...when you're picturing it....notice as many details as possible in your mind.....set it to memory....go back to it as many times as needed ....

Your show is the best painting show on TV! (Sorry, I'm so not a fan of BR, I wish they would drop him.) Sarah's travel segments complement the production beautifully. While I'm a watercolor hobbyist, Roger's instruction is so helpful in learning composition, colors, and the ups and downs of plein air painting. You seem like such nice people, thank you so much!
