My Nana use to bring me here when I was a young child of 2-3 years old (mid 1970's). We lived about a block away. It's one of my favorite memories and has made my love of old cemeteries last a lifetime.

Spent many summer vacations in nearby Atlantic beach, but my favorite strolling around and restaurants were in Beaufort seafront! ❤❤❤

This is where my grandpa, grandma and mother lived in 1940. My great grandfather lived here before 1940. He was a Mattox. He married a girl with the last name Pigg. Don't know how long the Pigg's lived there for sure. My grandfather was a Weir.

I'm originally from MC. Just looking to the west from where the sign said don't feed the birds kzbin.info/www/bejne/imPTgX2Qm6-gZqM I was fortunate to live a block from the water's edge when I was a kid. During the summer, I had barnacles growing on my ankles because I was in the water twice a day! It was a small town when I grew up there & it still is. I worked at the Sanitary Restaurant at one time & eventually joined the USCG. Much history with my GGgrandfather Josephus Willis, Captain of the "Red Oar Crew" that caught the "May Flower" whale

It sure isn't 1979. They destroyed what was once the hottest entertainment spot between Virginia and the Florida coasts. As though none of it even existed.

I’m lucky enough to have been born in Atlantic Beach and got to experience the circle before they wiped it out. It was an incredible spot, so many of us hung out there when we were kids. Then one day, poof. It was all gone. Whenever tourists would find out I was local, they’d always ask “What is there to do here? There’s nothing to do” And I’d have to tell them about the circle. It’s a sad thing man. Really is. I moved away years ago and haven’t been back, I miss Atlantic Beach 😢

@@ghostfacepanda I feel ya !! I used to feast at Taco Mex, rock out at Night Moves and even wander into the Incinerator (Disco) on the beach right behind Taco Mex. I can't remember the name of the bar that was attached to it though. A young couple named Wade & Linby operated the Incinerator, as I recall. I do miss many old, local friend that, perhaps you might know. I'm pleasantly surprised to here that El's is still open on Arendell Street. :)

Every time I used to visit Morehead City and Atlantic Beach as a kid, this was the typical weather we would get. I remember there would be these extremely dark majestic clouds and next thing you know it was raining so hard that my mother could not see out the window to drive her car. We would literally have to pull over to some parking lot and wait for the storm to subside. This is very typical weather for Morehead City I'd hate to say
