@@LifeWellRidden It can vary quite a lot depending on where you are. Up north in Lapland I once rode a snowmobile in -36C (or -33 Fahrenheit), but I live in the region with the mildest climate so the temperature on an average winter day is typically between -5C (23F) and -10C (14F). The coldest temperature I've ridden a motorcycle in was -24C (-11F), if I recall correctly. But the cold is not an issue when you use gear that is designed for arctic conditions, such as snowmobile riding gear. When I'm wearing my warmest gear, I rarely even need to use my heated grips and heated socks (hands and feet are the most susceptible to cold).

@@LifeWellRidden Perfectly fine except I may have to use some throttle to cold start it when the ambient temperature is very cold. In my experience there's two things that can be an issue when running a motorbike during winter, one of which is the battery. That's why I have portable booster in case the battery doesn't have enough charge to start the bike. But the stock battery on the KTM seems to hold up quite well since I've never had to use it on the KTM. I've had to use it on previous bikes before installing more cold-resistant batteries on them. The other thing is the ignition switch (and any other locks you may have on anti-theft devices) because if any moisture gets in there then ice will form inside the lock and jam it. That's why I also have a gas-fuelled storm lighter. A regular lighter won't cut it because its flame will be extinguished by winter's cold wind.

Great ride! I have à question : why dont you use the shifter ? Not functional or just your préférence for Some reason ( i havé a 2023 and use essentialy the shifter up and down to change gear)

I know it's there and I use it at the track but riding on the street I'm so used to using a clutch for every gear change its a habit now haha this is the first bike I have owned with a quick shifter so it's a new world for me! Do you use it even if your at like quarter throttle?

Yeah clears all their debt basically. Bad crack though for the companies they have let down. They will struggle to have solid relationships with who they used. My old man has the the newer Africa twin as well and it's nice. Need to watch the 790 and 890 platform for the camshaft issues.

1:40 Another thing you definitely should have mentioned is that this particular tail tidy looks like it's probably not legal in a lot of places (typically there would at least need to be a light that illuminates it). I would suggest looking into what are the legal requirements regarding how the license plate should be displayed and getting a tail tidy that does not violate those requirements.

It must be great to be able to ride out at this time of year, it's freezing in Scotland, very envious. I see there is a thing called, "Rider Share", in the USA that lets riders hire a bike from an owner and ride in your country. Do you know anything about it ? I would love to fly over from the UK & hire a bike for a week or two, travel your roads. May the stop sign gods ,always be with you.✌

I can't complain about the great weather here, just happy it's not a billion degrees yet.. But I have used Rider Share several times before and it's great, the people are usually friendly and ALL motorcycle enthusiast so you get along very quickly hahah but I would trust it!

Haha! I breath so dang heavy anyway.. the camera just make sit worse hahaha but one of my buddies actually picked up 2 used ones for like $100 so I gave him $50 for the other one. i dont understand why they dont make the 450 0r 500 exc into a supermoto, i have a 500 supermoto i built but if they put a little more oil capacity and a bigger tank from factory the would sell 10000s

The 390 would have been fine... if yhe exhaust wasnt underslung... why anyone was like.... yes, the exhaust will be underslung making it a not supermoto... is beyond me

Hahah I saw the same thing like how ya gunna put that on a center stand?? No center stand = no supermoto.. I would rather have the new DR-4s than the 390..

@LifeWellRidden if they tried a little harder it could easily have beaten or been at the same level as the dr4, maybe even better, because we know the 390 makes 40+ hp and we are not sure if the dr4 makes thay

The 390 is ugly because they sat a great big ball bag up front... If they'd followed the 690 formula with a tank in the back and a bench seat it would be far more sleek, but this would force seat height up which scares off newbies. Hopefully the bankruptcy situation provides a good shake up and they can bring us some bikes we actually want. Bring on the 690 Rally! I'd avoid the 890 until the cam issues are resolved.

They did bang the 390 up a bit and what came out after that fight is UGLY.. But you make some good points on the 890.. the issues hold true for too many people.. Maybe the ol 990 is the way to go!

what i like about the new 390 smcr is the new dash and headlight.. if they put those on a new 690 then i will be upgrading my 2018 without a doubt... and hopefully they do not put that under exhaust!!!

New dash and headlight would be nice.I was also thinking to get a new smcr 2025 modell.But the thing i dont like is the E5+ norm with 2 lambasensor that will come with it

I will take the dash upgrade any day! Headlights are nice too but have soooo many aftermarket options that most people will just replace anyway but anything but the underslung exhaust.. ANYTHING!!!

Yeah I agree, the 390 is just not sleek enough for a supermoto. It’s the same way I feel about the Ducati hyper 950.

It's like a hyper but way less power.. I have been a 690 die hard on this channel for the last 3 years and will always stand behind that bike BUT even still.. the 690 could be considered a non-supermoto.. BUT the power and out-the-box setup saves it. If I was even looking at the 390, I would go DR-4s or buy a 450/500 and build myself..

I noticed on KTM’s website that it reads “the KTM 390 SMC R is equipped with powerful LED lights taken directly from the KTM 690 SMC R” however the MY24 and older 690’s have halogen headlights. I’m thinking we will see a face lift to the 690’s for 2025.

Yeah german bike magazine havé presented thé new enduro r 690 (2025) and there are lots or changes apparently ( motor, exhaust, fuel tank in front as conventional dirt bike etc)

powerparts seat is many times better than stock - not as comfy as a seat concepts of course but 1/3 the price , i have found the powerparts fine for 12500 miles

Mine tops out at 109. That's rev limiter 6th. So at least I know that the -1 +3 makes 19mph difference on top end lol

I picked up a 21 690 enduro R that came with an extra set of warp 9 sumo wheels in November, and I love it! So I’ve of course been watching everything I can find on 690s etc. I just wanted to say I’ve really been enjoying your videos. I think you do a really good job and are entertaining as well as informative. And the intro on this video is sick! I hope way more people find this channel.

Another great post,✌. I try to use the highest octane fuel I can find in my 701, we can get 99 RON, (research octane number), fuel in the UK which I think is equivalent to your 95 US gas. The higher the number the better fuel efficiency you will get and it is better for your engine, unfortunately it's also more expensive. My philosophy is to feed the engine with the best lubrication oil and fuel I can rather than spending money on farkle's that do little or nothing for the bike.
