Nice, I was at Blackhawk at the beginning of the month and had a similar experience on my Sv650, struggled to pass on the straights and held up by everyone in the corners. Really fun track though

It's an epic track in my opinion or maybe I just know it all too well now haha

Seems like a relaxed session. ^^ Could you recommend tyres for my Tenere?
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
Yeah I felt a little sluggish.. but even still haha and when it comes to tires, I have not used many nor am I an expert BUT I would recommend the Michelin Pilot 2CT’s that I’m running now, out of the 3 sets I’ve had on the 690 (2 other Bridgestones) these are by far my favorite. Only issue.. they tend to square or shape themselves if you do a of flat street riding.. so beware haha I will probably go through these in a season very quickly but worth the grip!
@meoffjackАй бұрын
@@LifeWellRidden Thanks. Yeah Michelin are good tyres! Will try them out when surely my Contis are done next year... ^^

@@meoffjack hell yeah! Let me know what you think.. I’m interested in hearing your opinion

@@meoffjack If you're looking for Tenere tyres check out the Motoz range of tyres, which one you want will depend on how much gravel you have in the mix with your riding ;-) *Just clicked through to your channel, if you're talking SM tyres then the Michelin 2CT are nice track/SS tyres, I prefer a hybrid set like the Pilot Road 5 as they perform better cold, last longer and stick like crazy when leaning due to the dual compound. If the majority of your SM riding is on the road get the PR5.

Dont know how much you care, but you got another sub, cuzz my lord do you have the setup im straving for, a 700cc supermoto for daily and some track and a 450 for just the track
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
I appreciate the sub for sure!! and thank you haha its been a work in progress over the last 3 years to make this happen! What are you riding now??
@himathpereraАй бұрын
what is the top speed on crf 450 if you geared it for road use ? Just give a rough number. Anyway enjoying these track day videos ❤
@alex.crf450rАй бұрын
Hi mate, I've got a CRF450R 2013 which is supermoto for the road, its 13-43 gearing and does 105mph. When i race with a 16.5 front, running 13-45 gearing, it tops out at around 85mph which is still a little high for short karting but works perfect with the torque low down of a honda
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
Dang man 105 is moving hahah I'm probably in that 85 range in the current setup at 13-45 (just like you)
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
Thank you!! And I would say with a 16.5, 13-45 sprocket set I'm probably at 80-90?? Not quite sure as I have no dash but I bet if you geared it like a 13 or even 14 to 40-42 you could get to 110?? Or I may just be stupid and my math not mathing..
@F80mthreeАй бұрын
@@LifeWellRiddenI run a 14/44 on a 17’ wr450f sm. Perfect balance for me but I do have a wide ratio trans lol so may not be ideal for a crf.
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
@@F80mthree that trans probably helps so much!! I would love one for bigger tracks haha I would probably be 10-15 behind ya
@crash86edАй бұрын
The 450 should have a ton of grunt. It seems like you could easily be a gear higher, and install a bigger front sprocket to give it more legs as well.
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
That's what I was thinking but then again.. maybe I'll just leave it for the kart track haha
@justinatchison3674Ай бұрын
I have a 2020 690 smcr that I just took to a big track and my local kart track! Great bike if you can only have 1. Although I know better than to try a 450 at the kart track. I plan on gearing the 690 a little more aggressive and trying to Shave off a few lbs of weight. Any recommendation on track day tires? Currently running S22’s
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
Oh heck yeah!! I took my 690 to a kart track and comparing it to a 450 was a bad idea haha if it was still my only bike, it would be a blast if ya geared it down to get more low end grunt! As far as tires go, I'm running the Michelin Pilot 2CT's and they seem to be monsters out there.. much better than the S21's I had last year. The only issue I have found is that they are softer (in my opinion) and I have noticed they like to square off if I do a lot of highway/distance riding compared to the Bridgestone's. If your looking for all out track performance, I would go Michelin
@justinatchison3674Ай бұрын
@@LifeWellRidden Thanks for the insight! I really enjoy your videos. I've had all kinds of bikes on and off track and I think supermotos are my favorite because of the versatility. I also currently commute the 690 to the track on our flat highways in TX so totally understand the squaring off of soft tires. Can't wait until I have a tow rig and get to try slicks with warmers one day.
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
@@justinatchison3674 you understand completely haha the IL roads are similar = just too boring haha but a van/rig makes a huge difference! Warmers just make ya look cool 🤪 hahaha

What about fitting a 16.5 to the front of the 690 for track days?
@LifeWellRiddenАй бұрын
Very tempting for me.. I have been looking into second sets with slicks on them.. but I wonder how the 16.5 would do over 110 mph??
