So I saw this kitten in my apartments parking garage during a winter storm. It was 5 degrees out with wind chill. Took 5 days but I caught her. She's adjusting well seems pretty calm an is eating and drinking. Vet appointment is set. Thanks for the awesome video.

Now it runs away whenever it sees me. Yesterday it was coming closer. Will this kitten forgive me? If so, how long will it take? I will never hurt it again. building slow trust to show you wont do it again, by sitting close and not touching the cat even when its really close, and they look so cute cats can hit, bite, and hiss, out of fear so you have to show what you do when your mad snd when you’re calm. if you get upset or angry move away from the cat or make a very low throat noise to express anger. You just have to be patient and slow in the meanwhile feed the cat good food like wet and raw fish and treats. The best thing to remember is that animals do not have egos when they do things or hurt us it bc of fear or their natural instincts its your job to teach them how to thrive in your home and you gotta help.

Thank you for watching and your question. Clearly, the cat was confused and acted out in it's insecurity. It was trying to communicate to you. We recommended quarantining the cat to its own individual room for at least 2 weeks (maybe longer depending on the cat), until it develops a sense of security (a safe space) and connection with you. Anger has no place with animals (pets). When we take in a pet, we should understand that the animal will be totally relying on everything from us...feeding, health care, companionship, socialization, love, etc. If you are not ready to provide for all their needs, you should rehome to pet. But also understand, all parents make mistakes in the development of their children (none of us are perfect!). The kitten will quickly forgive you, IF you start providing for all their needs.

Totally not a bad idea! Rescues can be a great option, and it sounds like you've found a cutie. Just go for it because every kitty comes with quirks. This is the way each of us learned kitty language.

Rescues are the BEST choice, whether it’s your first or tenth kitty! Remember, it takes ALL cats SEVERAL weeks to acclimate to their new surroundings. Just be reassuring and give them their space as they try to figure you out. They love being spoken to with a soft voice. Cats don’t like loud noises cuz their hearing is very sensitive. You are their world!❤❤❤❤❤

Cats do require vaccinations. During your first vet visit, the vet will recommend a schedule for vaccinations. We advise spreading vaccinations out with 30 days between each vaccination. This will allow your cat's immune system time to recover. Neutering male cats by 20 - 24 weeks of age is also important to prevent spraying. Thank you for watching.

I am adopting an cat next week. Excited. She is an FIV, but fairly healthy. Due to her being FIV and above 4 years of age she struggles to get adopted. I HOPE she finds my home suitable.. I am nervous that she wont like me because she is very shy so far when I visit her in the shelter. She hates being around another cats..

Thank you for watching and good luck in your relocating. I have stopped flying with kitty all together. Instead I buy a small bag of litter at my departing airport city (prior to arriving home). Let the kitten use it the night before the return flight home, then discard the rest. I will not go thru that experience again.

We have Maine Coons. They are a big cat that is also very long. Our cats prefer long litter boxes. My concern would be that buckets are more vertical (tall) than horizonal (wide). A large cat needs horizonal space in it's litter box. We have another DIY video specifically designed to build a huge (but cheap) litter box for big cats. I love this. I am trying to figure out how to utilize some of your concepts into a rental property (drilling as few holes as possible). I have some beautiful old cedar boards. But the apartment does not have that built in ledge as your home does. I would be building a long upper shelf up top with an on ramp.

Even though you don't have a top ledge, I would make one by combining 2 - 1" x 10" wide boards (side by side), either 6' or 8' long (which ever you have room for) carpeted as a destination point for the cats. Support the 20" wide ledge with self support brackets (4 will be required). They can be purchased at Menards back in the DIY self storage area. Cats love high places. But understand the higher you go, the wider the ledge will need to be for the safety of the cat. I have a second DIY video for a cheap and easy high point for the cats...it's called "Cheap and Easy (DIY) Cat Bed for Adventurous Cats" Enjoy!

My maine coon was the best friend I have ever had. He was rescued, but a pure bed cat. Unfortunately, he died suddenly of illness at age 8. I was devastated. The vet told me this was common of pure bred cats. I believe in rescuing animals where I can, but after knowing this Maine coon, I think about getting another all the time. I live in Southern United States, and I worry of finding a good breeder.
