What is the name the polishing compound?
@havekarworkshop
@havekarworkshop Ай бұрын
To polish the edges I used water. Then I painted the edges with Fiebings Edge Kote. The leather itself was coated with neatsfoot oil followed by Acrylic resolene which gave the sheath it's shine.

Nice work! I'm curious why you formed the leather around the pocket clip, rather than using the clip to help hold it in the sheath.

Can you do this and still tool the leather
@havekarworkshop
@havekarworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
It could be done after wet forming, but the process would be very tedious and my guess is that the tooling wouldn't be as crisp as made on a flat leather. In this design, shape of the knife "imprinted" on leather is decoration in itself. If You want tooling I would go with another design - pancake sheath. In that case You can easily work with the leather before stitching it all together and get that crisp tooling.

A z tym serialem to jest trudna historia. Podobał mi się pierwszy odcinek bardzo, reszta już kłuła w oczy tymi rozbieżnościami od oryginału- za dużo ich i wprowadzane na siłę. I love the arm guard. My wife wants me to make her some arm guards for grooming cats. For both arms. She is a professional cat and dog groomer. I have been taking archery since a kid. When I saw your video I was impressed with the simplicity of the design and development of it. I am impressed very much. Did you use 2-3 oz Vegtan leather? I downloaded your pattern. I am just making sure its the type my wife wants. If not I am making it for myself.

Hey! Thanks Man, I appreciate the good word! And I'm glad You like the design. Leather I used for the armguard was 4oz Veg tanned. 3 oz should work just as well, but the armguard will be softer- less protective, less suitable for archery (maybe for bow below 30#). But for protection against cat claws 2-3 oz should be perfect :) I strongly advise You to have some fun with the pattern, adjust it to the style and size that Your wife wants. Good luck!
