So you sort of just said it but I wanted to confirm. You would say if someone was starting from scratch or wanted to start from beginning and "unlearn what you have learned" you would say start with Draw Comics The Marvel way, read it section by section and reenforce those sections with other more in depth books to expand my practicing? Am I sniffing down the right Marvel path?

I think part of why wax packs stopped being a thing is because of the rise of TCGs.

So good as usual! The concept and execution are so solid! I am 100% sure we are best friends in a parallel universe. My favorite was the monochrome figures- there was something so cool about a yellow Captian America or a blue Spider-Man.

Very cool! I forgot all about Colorforms. I remember now, having a similar product. It was an Ewok village printed on a game board material. Then you could transfer the Ewoks and other Star Wars characters by rubbing them off the sheet like Letraset letters. They'd be permanently affixed but was still a cool product. No idea what that was called.
@ScottSerkland6 күн бұрын
Yes! I have an awesome book called Star Wars Vault that has a bunch of memorabilia reproductions and it includes a sample of the Letraset Death Star rub off transfers. Kenner famously would not let other toy companys licence Star wars items, I'm gussing since Letraset wasn't a toy company thats the reason they could produce them. Colorforms had a brand of similar transfers called Presto Magic. If I can figure ot how to reproduce them I'll make a video, but stay tuned to my next video. It's another Colorforms video and I think you'll dig it.

Shamefully I saw both Buckaroo Banzai and Dune in theater. I respect Sting as a human being, I like his music, but I learned one thing from Dune which was never to watch any film with him in it. Somehow, being 8 at the time, I also read the Dune comic with was more bizarre then the movie. I have finished the storyboards on my manga and started on the actual line art. I'm torn however on redoing panels or letting readers see how I progress as an artist. Thoughts anyone.
@ScottSerkland26 күн бұрын
That's awesome! I know I saw Dune in the theater but can't remember if I saw Buckaroo Banzai in the theater. I'll have to check about the Dune comic, There is also a Buckaroo Banzai comic adaption. I have the same thoughts about Young and the Dead since I've been working on it so long and the characters have changed slightly. I may go back and change things here or there but I would advise aginst redoing full pages.

Being an indie comics creator, the old Marvel house style has actually played a big part in my work, in particular the Silver Age comics that put them on the map. About the only thing I don't do is have the narration take up more than the actual dialouge. Otherwise, I do my stuff quite similar to Silver Age comics, even handlettering on pretty much EVERYTHING I do, a practice I will NEVER abandon. Even my color pallete is limited to the old 64 color one. Great video btw!
