Actually, Tim Burton had one meeting with Warner Bros., and they demoted him to a producer role. Then he pass on the torch to his friend Joel Schumacher to continue with the Batman franchise and helping out hiring Lee and Janet Scott Batchler to write the screenplay for Batman Forever with Akiva Goldsman doing revisions, and finally, Tim gave Joel his input. You see, Batman Forever never started out as a Tim Burton project. It was always Joel Schumacher's baby.

Sorry guys, you all are completely right. Alan Dean Foster wrote Splinters of the Mind's Eye. Thank you all so much!
@TheCultureCommentary5 күн бұрын
Dear Lord you are confused beyond imagination. Alan Dean Fosters "Spinter of the Minds eye" was George Lucas plan B for a sequel movie IF Star Wars failed. Han Solo isnt in it for the simple reason that AT THAT TIME Harrison Ford wasnt signed for another Star Wars movie. Alan Dean Foster was given strict instructions so the story could be filmed on VERY low budget. Thus very limited enviroments, special effects, tiny battles and off course the only characters that could be in it were those where the actors were avaible.... This wasnt at all what George Lucas wanted but it was all he was certain to afford before May the 25th 1977.... Alan Dean Foster was already part of Star Wars because he ghost-wrote the novellization of Star Wars which was releeased to build up interest for the movie.... Nobody knew what would happen.... And then on May 25th 1977 Star Wars hit movie theaters.... Cashier machines exploded and George Lucas suddenly wasnt gonna film a 2 million dollar low budget sequel. He now was gonna film a highly anticipated 20 MILLION DOLLAR sequel. Thats when he hired Leigh Bracket - the queen of space opera - to help him write what would eventually become The Empire Strikes Back. Leigh Bracket LOVED writing space opera but as it didnt pay very well also was involved in serious movies like westerns. Thats what she though George Lucas was calling her for. She was utterly surprised to hear itw as exactly for those low budget space opera love stories he needed her help. George Lucas had basically been taunted "Hey this lady wrote that cantina scene in Star Wars way better than you did you should hire her" - and so he did.
@David-iv6je5 күн бұрын
Alan Dean Foster wrote the novelization of Star Wars plus the story originally slated for the sequel, "Splinter in the Mind's Eye." It's a reasonable hypothesis that Foster also plotted the original trilogy and designed a lot of the resulting worlds. If you read Foster's books, you'll find familiar themes coming out before Stars Wars was released: a "Desert Planet" a "Forest Planet" and an "Ice Planet." Foster's style has a lot of similarity to the style of Star Wars, where Lucas had never done anything similar. So it's a realistic hypothesis that Foster was paid to sketch out the whole thing from a basic set of character and story.
@officialmonarchmusic6 күн бұрын
Allan Dean Foster wrote Splinter of the Mind's Eye. George Lucas never seriously wanted to go with it, it was a sequel if Star Wars flopped, so Star Wars's success automatically disqualified it, it was intentionally low budget. Brackett was only hired for ESB and passed away before she got even close to completing a draft of ESB. Where are you getting your information from?
@TheCultureCommentary5 күн бұрын
Bracket sadly passed away in cancer after the first draft of ESB but remember that she didnt just wrote the draft. She had multiple phone conversations with George Lucas where she helped him form his idea of the movie. Even the ideas that wasnt in her draft only existed because talking to her helped George Lucas figure out where he wanted to go with the movie. As the story goes George Lucas hired her because somebody taunted him "Hey this lady wrote the cantina scene in Star Wars way better than you did, you should hire her" - so he did. Leigh Bracket was known as Queen of Space Opera but Space Opera wasnt very profitable so she also did serious work. She thought Lucas phoned for her "serious work" Lucas told her "No I want your experience in those romantic space opera stories you are known for". Now her ideas were heavily changed but you cant change an idea until it exists. This means the initial work was the jumping off point for all later work.

A reply to a question on what a fan would have liked StarWars to have become ! They stopped making StarWars movies after a seven feature and the franchise maintained its integrity with its fans of 30 + years all being happy ! Lucas when on to create one more amazing final StarWars movie with the cannon being kept intact and everyone was happy with it not being Rogue One but something better with him directing the last masterpiece at the helm to what was a amazing Saga with him keeping his promise to all the independent filmmakers who looked at him as a great filmmaker ! He didn’t sell out ! He reworked the full starwars collection with now having the technology and they become longer special feature movies without there being the need of Mickey Mouse to fuck things up with me not having any wish to see more after Rogue One ! Everything after this was not SrarWars, it was one more Disney WokeWars Saga killer ! Mickey got rabies with eating up the hole company alive and then dying a a fast death after he was nuked with LA dropping into the ocean with there being no survivors to the benefits of future filmmakers who went on to create movies without the studio system creating new woke limitations ! Mickey must really have rabies ? There is no other good reason why ! And as a family member of one of the first LA film studio founders I keep asking myself this question, why ? It’s not about making a movie that will turn over a lot of money at the price of killing the industry ? It’s about making good movies that people will wish to keep looking at years later ! Damn it George, you fucked up an amazing thing for all your fans ! All you needed to do was to say we are not for sale ! Why George, why ? You didn’t need there money ! We didn’t want to be let down ! You have destroyed a part of my childhood by joining the dark side of the industry!

@evanzaremba472233 минут бұрын
Nah, Batman Returns was more of a Tim Burton that happens to have Batman in it. Batman 89, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin were more like the comic books.
@mikerude50738 күн бұрын
Hmmm... not sure Batman Continues has a catchy ring to it either. What comes next? Batman Again? Batman More? Anyway, I like the general aesthetic of the Burton movies, but I wish he'd have actually done some research on the comics. With his visual style and a bit more characterization accuracy, it could have been the closest thing to perfect we'd ever get. Then Penguin and Killer Croc could be two separate characters and not jammed into one. Also, there was no need to have the Joker be the one who murdered Bruce's parents. Those unnecessary things make the movie worse in retrospect. Imagine BTAS characterizations with Tim Burton's aesthetic. -That would be truly timeless.
@billdunn45738 күн бұрын
I never considered how much his Penguin was mixed with Killer Croc. He even lived in a sewer. But yeah, if a modern director took that Burton look for Gotham and used the Batman Animated Series for reference, they'd have a license to print money. It still possibly could happen.

You forgot to mention that Robin Williams was in talks to play the Riddler. Burton and Warner Bros. wanted to make amends with Williams for “allegedly” using him as bait to get Jack Nicholson to play the Joker in the first Batman movie. However, when Burton dropped out and Schumacher was in, he wanted Jim Carrey to be the Riddler.
@evanzaremba472237 минут бұрын
Actually, it was Joel Schumacher who wanted Robin Williams as The Riddler with the Batchlers writing it with his comedic delivery. Robin Williams as The RIddler would be the same over the top/flamboyant Riddler as was in the final film. And even Robin talked to Akiva Goldsman about The Riddler in his kitchen. According to the Batchlers who wrote the script, there was a salary dispute. And that's why Jim Carrey was cast. Tim never approached Robin for The Riddler. It was Warner Bros., Joel, the Batchlers, and Akiva.

just shows Lucas and Disney think alike when it comes to scrapping original scripts.. return of the jedi was originally gonna be called revenge of the jedi and the rise of skywalker was originally supposed to have the title duel of the fates as well as a different script just like in this case.. I'm seeing why he sold it to disney now..they think alike with sudden change.. also there are three death stars and two other super weapons made..5 superweapons total to my knowledge all together..3 death stars, star forge and starkiller base the third death star is canon and is actually said to be within orbit of endor in E6 but never shown. it was a superweapon constructed for an ally of palpatine for their service to the empire

Episode I was to focus on the origins of the Jedi Knights and how they are initiated and trained. Episode II would introduce and develop Obi-Wan Kenobi. Episode III was the introduction and life of Darth Vader. Episode IV was Star Wars: A New Hope. Episode V was The Empire Strikes Back, largely the final theatrical cut. Episode VI would end with Luke confronting Vader and leaving to live a solitary life. Leia would be elected Queen of her people, leaving her isolated and alone, while Han would die. Episode VII was to focus on Luke's life as a Jedi, with very little detail planned out. Episode VIII would see Luke's sister appear from another part of the galaxy. Episode IX would be the defeat of the Emperor, with Kurtz implying that Luke would have been a major part of this final battle.
