I truly enjoyed watching your video titled "Rare & Obscure '80s Jazz Fusion Mix," but unfortunately, it is no longer available. The music was absolutely amazing, and I really wish to listen to it again. Could you kindly share the tracklist from that video?

And Kyle strikes again with another beautiful sonic tune from the archives!! I literally have that cd 💿 at the top of my stack of cds as I type this msg.😊 Wow! I bought it again recently. I love "One family" and the entire album!! I really e njoyed the era of the Yellowjackets when Marc Russo, Jimmy Haslip, and the late great Ricky Lawson were group members (not that I don't appreciate them now). There was just something beautiful and energetic about their sound during that time. Another fave of mine is the funky album opener, "And You Know That." The Yellowjackets are one of those enduring bands that have helped create the soundtrack to our lives. I love "Shades," "Four Corners," and Yellowjackets (the album that highlighted the classic, "Matinee idol." Thank you so much for uploading this gem of a tune. Love this album! Blessings to you and all--and a blessed forthcoming new year 2025 to everyone. Looking forward to hearing more gems 💎 from the Kyle Music Vaults in the New Year!!🎉🥳🥳🙏🏿🎈🎈😀

@@lizgoodwin1812 wonderful comment Liz! Mirage A Trois introduced me to them, when Richard Elliot played EWI on that Lp, before Russo joined on Samurai Samba. I agree, Ricky Lawson gave a lot towards their sound. Although I also loved the way the group’s sound evolved once Will Kennedy joined the band. Have a great ‘25!
@lizgoodwin181210 сағат бұрын
@KJCMuzique Thank you so much, Kyle. I appreciate your kind words. I really was going to add the inimitable Will Kennedy--I believe that "Four Corners" was his debut--and what a debut it was!😊 The Yellowjackets turned a sonic and stylistic corner after Mr. Kennedy joined, not to mention, the change was especially evident when the great Marc Russo left the group (after "Four Corners"). The more straightahead head jazz sound that has underscored and permeated their recordings was again prominent once the incomparable Bob Mintzer joined the outfit. I like each era. I think that I have a fondness for the '80s Yellowjackets--Robben Ford's scorching guitar solos; Ricky Lawson's explosive drumming, and Marc Russo's haunting alto saxophone. Through it all, Russell Ferrante has remained the mainstay of this ever-evolving, and always exciting group. Thanks again , Kyle. Blessings to you and all! Have a great, blessed 2025 to you and all!🎉😊

Love Yellowjackets, Kyle. And Shades is my favorite albm from them. It's so uplifting and great, It' impossible not to smile after listening to It.

Though the majority of The Yellowjacket still are alive and well, we lost ALOT, man! David sanborn, then Kevin Toney, and Quincy Jones??!! I was torn to shreds this year; heartbroken and distraught that our heroes are fading. But I smile once again since this is THE main channel for jazz content showcasing the very best in the industry from that time. As this year come to a close, it was rather unfortunate that this channel did not had enough uploads this year but come next year, im sure Kevin Toney's Lovescape will lead the year with awesome bangers! Happy holidays, Jazz cats and to you most definitely, Kyle. 🎷🎺

Well put, a lot of artists have left us too soon, though their legacy lives on in their music! As with so many of us, 2024 was a crazy busy year for me, but I am hoping to share much more excellent music with all of you, that slips by YT's copyright police that is ;) Happy 2025!

One of my favorite YJ tracks from Shades, 1986...hard to believe that was 39 years ago when I first heard it on 94Q's Jazz Flavours in Atlanta, GA. Takes me back to a great time for contemporary jazz/funk, soul and fusion music...when it was a new sound and taking off on the airwaves back then. Long before corporate radio conformity took over, and modern jazz artists had a fresh palette, to create such brilliant, intricate and evocative pieces such as this one. Every time I listen to this song, it never fails to make me feel nostalgic yet optimistic at the same time. May all of you listeners have a great 2025!

I am very saddened to hear about the health issues of both Tony Morales and Steve Reid. Both were exceptional musicians and I had many hours of pleasure listening to their contributions to artists like The Rippingtons and Nelson Rangell. Life can be very cruel and I would like to send my prayers and good wishes to them both and their families. Dementia robbed me of my father in his 70's and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Sending positive vibes and love and a thanks for many hours of wonderful unique music and happy memories.

The mythology around Jazz and it's golden age (seen prominently in Ken Burns's Jazz) is damaging to the vitality of the genre as a whole. I'm probably on the younger end of listeners to the channel (34) but my favorite Jazz is abrasive free jazz, boundary blurring fusion/soul/funk/rock and the smooth jazz that evolved out of it. Pretending like Jazz ended with Bitches Brew makes it seem like a dead artform when it very much alive. By the way the vastness of your collection and quality astounds me.

What great memories!! I was introduced to HOS in 1984 living in Chicago. I would listen on Sunday night in bed with our newborn daughter lying on my chest. Now I listen to the show on Public Radio stations online from Upstate New York to San Francisco. The HOS website has all the stations listed that carry the show. Safe journey, space fans...... XO
