You missed one! "led" = "lead", like in a pencil. Which I know isn't actually lead but ykno.

9:45 i always thought that it was saying “thou shall not steal” instead of “I saw you first” hinting at the fact that some artists will “steal” ideas and beats/lyrics from other artists and be vain and act like they came up with them, showing their misplaced pride.
@drxzi13 минут бұрын
Not saying that's wrong I use Genius as a baseline for the lyrics if I hear something different I'll go off from them but generally (at least with lyrics) they are right most of the time

i think i just caught something in the last line.. when he says "your murder's just a bit slower", he may not just be referring to you (or any regular person) being a murderer , but also to the fact that you are one of the people being murdered.. if everyone's a killer then someone's goanna kill you

As someone who loves Kendrick and could yap about his songs all day, PRIDE and DUCKWORTH are probably my favourite songs from damn. I love that you brought up some points I had about pride but I also feel like some parts of pride are talking about gang culture and the way it impacts people.
@drxzi1Күн бұрын
That could definitely be the case, I think I am great at covering music and making good scripts but I have my blind spots to areas I am not experienced in

This video made me realize that Kendrick chose the right name for the album. All I'm thinking is "damn" after watching 😅. It's so much deeper and more interesting than I thought. It reminds me of that BigBoyTV interview where Kendrick ranked DAMN as his favourite album he's made - and for good reason. It really is that awesome, it just took me a while to realize. Great video!

9:30 I’m not sure either if it’s a reference or not since I don’t know his whole discography by heart but I thought that line was just “god” saying that he sent people to doubt saba along his journey perhaps to toughen him up and make sure Saba is certain this is the path he wanted. This is also a continuation of the previous few bars you looked at like “I sent obstacles on your way, to make sure this what you mean” where those people (non-believers, doubters, haters, etc.) are just an example of an obstacle. Despite this, as you were saying, Saba’s love for music, his fans, and those close to him prevailed. Those obstacles never stopped Saba. Honestly a great message highlighting how we should never listen to the naysayers telling us “you can’t achieve this.” This and other obstacles can be “bigger than beats” but we must “fear them the least” knowing nothing is truly insurmountable. Just my thoughts rambling a bit. Nice analysis though I also really fw this song

We not gonna talk about how its the 7 song out of 14 =7/14=7:14... Matthew 7:14 "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only few find it" the narrow gate represents the only way to salvation which is through jesus christ. Kenny is a mastermind with his albums.
