Hi, I’ve been binge watching all your vids since I bought a 2015 Busa last week. I’m enjoying your sense of humour! What is the reason that you wanted/needed a Power Commander?
@MototalkUSA22 күн бұрын
@@Thunder-cx4yq hey, thank you for your comment, I'm happy that you're enjoying and congrats on your Busa! Engines are "corked" from the factory for emission standards so by using a power commander it "frees up" some of the potential that is there, especially if you install an exhaust. It's like on the older motorcycles if you made any mods etc you would adjust the carburetor to get maximum gains but since these newer bikes are fuel injected obviously there is no carb to adjust but tuning to do and power commander is one way to go about it. It won't make it a rocket ship but it's worth the gains.

Mototalk, I don't think the bmw s1000RR or M1000RR would have anything more than 40k miles on them without the engine either blowing up or needing a whole new engine due to the nature of the motorcycle and engine itself. @@MototalkUSA Mototalk, yeah bro...I was battling between the bmw M1000R, KTM 1390 Superduke R Evo and the hayabusa and I still think that the 3rd Gen Hayabusa is still the best bet when it comes to long term quality riding, touring, and very high reliability without the motorcycle breaking down on the road when riding for touring. Quick question, with your hayabusa, how often do you need to oil and tighten the chain up from being loose?

@markettradinggenius absolutely man, if you want longevity the Busa is the one, however the 1390 will be a blast to ride but will cost you more 😅 I'd say on average I probably oil the chain every 800 miles or so and I adjust it probably 2 times a year. Lol. Chains don't throw lube onto tires. The chain is BESIDE the tire, so it's throwing lube PAST the tire. If you have chain lube on your tire, it's because you put it there.
@Gurn_BlanstonАй бұрын
Lol. You need to delete this video, you goof. Nobody shifts like that, except for people who don't know how to ride. Just preload the shifter with your foot, and snap the throttle off and back on, and it will shift like an automatic, without ever having to touch the clutch. You don't even have to close the throttle all the way, just dip the throttle enough to momentarily remove tension from the chain, and it will shift like butter.
@Gurn_BlanstonАй бұрын
Why are you using the rear brake? What level of formal rider training have you successfully completed, if any? What is your objectively quantifiable riding skill level, if any? My background is as an expert-licensed motorcycle road racer and motorcycle road racing instructor. I am also an honorably-retired police officer with a successful law enforcement career spanning 30 years. The majority of fatal and near-fatal motorcycle crashes I have investigated, ALL involved attempting to use the rear brake while in motion. Using the rear brake contributes NOTHING to maximum braking, but it absolutely can kill you by locking up the rear wheel, eliminating the gyroscopic stabilization of the spinning rear wheel.
@iwanna09kav62Ай бұрын
This is an impressive background @Gurn_ Blanston!! Maybe you should post some videos at your channel to teach the proper way!

Slip-ons add zero horsepower to the Hayabusa. The only thing they do is make more noise and eliminate some muffler weight. The stock Hayabusa exhaust system weighs about 40 pounds. A proper 4-into-1 full exhaust system will actually increase horsepower. A proper 4-into-1 exhaust system will also save a lot more weight than just getting lighter mufflers.
@MototalkUSAАй бұрын
@@Gurn_Blanston yeah, I want to get a whole system eventually. Just needed something to get me by for now.
@Gurn_BlanstonАй бұрын
Are you still using the stock 190/50 rear tire size? The Hayabusa turns MUCH better with a 180/55 or 190/55. The taller profile also lays down more rubber when banked over, giving MUCH more traction.
@Gurn_BlanstonАй бұрын
You don't need to do all that fiddling with the rear caliper. The next time you have the rear caliper off, pull the rear pads out and grind a healthy bevel along the edge of the pads closest to the rear axle, so that from now on, all you have to do is shove the rear wheel in, and the rotor will be guided into place between the pads by the "V" shape formed by those two bevels. It's an old endurance racing trick- we can change a rear wheel/tire in seconds that way.

@@Gurn_Blanston so I can flat foot better, just made it fit my needs better. Plus I can always go back to stock if I wanted to
@Gurn_BlanstonАй бұрын
@MototalkUSA Buddy, nobody needs to be able to flat-foot a motorcycle. If you can scoot to the side and get one toe down, you're fine. How tall are you? I know the Hayabusa VERY well. The Hayabusa has relaxed geometry, mostly in it's 58.5" wheelbase. The engine is also VERY wide, which doesn't allow for a lot of cornering clearance even at the stock ride height. Lowering the motorcycle reduces cornering clearance even more. At the stock ride height, I was dragging the fairing bulge on the right and the engine stator cover on the left, during "spirited" riding. I shortened the wheelbase 5/8" by removing two links out of the chain, and raised the rear of my Hayabusa 2" to steepen rake, reduce trail, and to increase cornering clearance, and it still didn't have as much cornering clearance as a stock 55" Supersport, although it turned a LOT better. My young wife is not even 4'11" and she can balance her Halfabusa (SV650) race bike, which is nearly as tall as a Hayabusa, without lowering it, simply by removing the stock seat cover and foam, and replacing it with a 1/2" thick adhesive-backed foam seat pad cut to fit the plastic seat pan. There's a large amount of foam in the Hayabusa seat, and you could probably do something similar. I hate seeing people crash because they decked out hard parts in a corner and levered a tire up off the ground.

@Gurn_BlanstonАй бұрын
Lol, is your clutch stock? The stock Hayabusa clutch has a back torque limiter (slipper) that will make them do that on a race launch. Drag racers eliminate the back torque limiter and install stiffer clutch springs to make up for the reduction in clamping force. I'm not willing to give up the back torque limiter, nor do I want a stiff clutch lever, so I just launch at 2,500 rpm and screw the throttle on, getting the clutch fully engaged and the throttle fully open within just a couple of bike lengths. It's a very different procedure than something like the R1, which I launch at 8,000 rpm, pinning the throttle wide open on launch and sliding the clutch all the way through first gear to keep the front wheel within an inch or so of the ground.
