That set-up is so smart! The windows that all fit perfectly and everything? Really cool! I am new to blender but trying to learn for comic purposes as well. Now I just have to learn how to make assets like you xD any chance of a short tutorial on how to get started wíth a set up like yours? Or anyone in particular where you learned it? I would totally buy it too but I can understand that this work isn't something you'd share with anyone. Still, amazing workflow!! :)

After struggling with recapturing my sketching abilities for a while, turns out creating characters through silhouettes and quickly blobbing things out resonates me so much more. Hi Bako751, sorry for the late reply. I’ve been very busy lately. Anyways, it works exactly the same with character models. @artofdavidarroyo
@artofdavidarroyo 3 ай бұрын
Hi light00651, the human eye is similar to a camera focal length of 50mm, however if you want to take out that extreme perspective that you’re experiencing, all you have to do is go up in focal length. The higher the focal length, the less perspective you have in your image, and the more zoomed in you are. In other words, you might have to move the camera back a bit for this to work. Hope this helps. 😉👍🏻

Hi rawb-dawg, sorry for the late reply. I’ll see what I can do. I’ve been very, very busy these last months, so I definitely can’t promise anything. However, I’m pretty sure that this method must still work. Procreate also allows the import of Photoshop brushes and the one you need from Photoshop is the oldest pencil tool which is exactly the same as the brush that I made in this tutorial. I know it’s not a direct solution, but hopefully it can still give you some alternative ideas on how to obtain this brush. Wishing you all the best! 🙂👍🏻

Hi burhanarslan331, I definitely understand how it can be frustrating when you have these perfect ideas in your head, but then what you try to draw or paint them, it just doesn’t come to look like when you had envisioned. It’s something that all artists have struggled with at some point. It can even happen to me still to this day. When I end up stuck like that, I end up looking for reference material that might help me to get past that phase. Like I mentioned in the video, I’m stubborn when it comes to using visual reference, but it definitely does help as we need to learn from somewhere eventually. Give it another go, try to maybe have some additional visual references by your side, and I think you might get better results. Also don’t hesitate to study your fundamentals before attempting a project like this one, as you’ll need all of that theory in order to make your shots look good. You’re very welcome spinafire, I’m happy to see that it’s useful to you. Give it some time, you might be able to eventually do full characters if you just keep on practicing and applying this technique. Just keep on thinking about your primary shapes and what kind of emotion or mood you want them to evoke. Then you can try to apply some healthy composition rules to it, like having big, medium and small shapes present… or emphasizing main shapes and combining it with contrasting accent shapes. Keep these kind of things in mind, and I’ll think you’ll gradually get there. Wishing you all the best on your creative journey! 😉👍🏻

@artofdavidarroyo
@artofdavidarroyo Жыл бұрын
Hi McCloud23892, I’d said that all programs are fine for this. It all depends on your preferences and needs. If you need backgrounds that are often repeated and have lots of perspective, you might want to use a 3D software package like blender. You can combine this then with something like Procreate, Clip Studio Paint or Photoshop for adding finishing touches or additional details like I did here. In terms of features for making comics, Clip Studio Paint definitely has the edge on the rest of the software solutions. Hope this helps. 🙂

@@McCloud23892 I understand the situation that you’re in. Learning 3D takes lots of time and then creating 3D models also takes lots of time. There are many websites for this such as Sketchfab or Turbo Squid. Have a look and see what you can find. Another great video David. The only confusing bit for me was the muzzle flash on the gun. I've watched the other video on how to create a blueprint to allow the attachment of the particle but the bit that I can't figure out is that the muzzle flash is associated with that particular animation. However when you access that particle effect in in the sequencer you're using a different animation. So the question I have is , when you add things like muzzle flashes to one animation blueprint does that mean it propagates to the main skeleton mesh and that's why sequencer has access to it even if you're not using that actual animation?
@artofdavidarroyo
@artofdavidarroyo Жыл бұрын
It’s within blueprints that you assign the location of your assets on a socket within characters. This facilitates the parent-child relationship. Then within sequencer you can turn the animation on or off depending on your needs. You can replace the animations within sequencer if necessary. I hope this explanation helps you a bit further. Unreal Engine can be complicated at first and often there are many other ways to achieve the same result. But yes… you were thinking the right way. 😉👍🏻

Hi MarvinJakata8138, I’m sorry I didn’t reply earlier. I’ve been very busy lately as I’m prepping my classes for when I start teaching again in a few weeks. In this video I used a template that I created in Photoshop with the correct measurements for printing. I used it as a reference layer that I imported into Procreate. Once I had this template with standard measurements, I just followed the lines that I needed and created my panels. This method is more structured, so it might not provide the flexibility that some comic pages have. It’s great for creating a comic book page with structure in layout. Not suitable if you want complete freedom to place your panels wherever you’d like. I hope this helps. 😉👍🏻

Hola Lily, as far as I’m aware this is still the most efficient way within Procreate. You can always work with the content fill based off a reference layer, but these results aren’t that great when you have detailed line art. With simple line art the content fill does an amazing job and the flats stay without anti-aliasing as they should.
