Melodyne has no proper dark mode. Just for that, game over. That's often the problem with old pioneer software (like Melodyne or Cubase): great yet convoluted functionality, and looks like software from the 90s.

This is all great-these reference plugins are super useful. However, I rarely see videos explaining how to actually fix the issues detected with the plugin and reference track in a practical way. If you’ve already made a video like this, or if anyone knows of one, please share the link in a reply! I’d love to see a tutorial focused on how to use these tools to improve our mix and bring it closer to the sound of the chosen reference mix, from a practical, problem-solving perspective. A hands-on guide on addressing these issues would be incredibly valuable!

Great vid. The golden rule of bottom end is def not obeyed by the producer of this track though. Friends cant live together very well below 100hz...its just physics/rms/kinetics of speakers. This issue is simply solved in the same way arrangements are, make room. Find the fundamental of the bass kick, choose where it finishes and where the other kick starts and use a linear phase xover @ 24db (no predelay or distortion when no gain) and voila! perfect harmony in about 60 secs :)

One feature it's missing is a percentage slider. EQs like AirEQ, SplitEQ, and bx_digital v3 have it. It's so useful to be able to to double check whether I've over-done it, or whether I should've been a bit bolder.

I'm liking Infinity2. Version 1 had a delay between making the adjustment and hearing it actually take effect. So I didn't use it. But I have a feeling Infinity 2 might overtake AirEQ as my favourite. Great work on clarifying the M/S stuff.

Great demo. I still love my Relab LX480 dual engine. A shame it doesn't come with the LARC controller. QuantX sounds very interesting. I've not wore off the shininess of my newer delays and reverb Sigmund 2, Repeater, Tekturon, and Toraverb from D16 Group, so not yet says the wallet.

Dude is going through the same way I would. I actually appreciate that. Also, not many ppl can articulate what pleases or displeases them in a master/mix-Weiss does a pretty good job. I would say, Matthew's vocal is too sibilant-quite a lot on the ear.

@@the_handsome_bear I'm not so sure about "sampled" because it seems that some instruments were played again trying to mimic the original. The huge clap, the guitars, and some other things seem to be samples, that's true... ...but I'm not so sure about some keyboards and the bass line... Anyway, it's cool! Nice pick from a great music group. As far as I Know, it seems that Charlie keeps his pace on field playing in a different team... ...if that's for real, a 100% better one.

Pro Tools is such a pile of shit it is unreal. Like seriously, they need to re-write the software from the ground up. It's got code from the 1980s ported with software wrappers within wrappers across multiple programming vendors.

I love how overdrive pedals like the centurion extend the sustain of the sound and saturate in a way that you don’t hear an obvious distortion “hair “ and fizz. I was using a behringer tubescreamer pedal parallel through aux out of my soundcraft mtk mixer, it sounded like an odd reverb, it was nice on a lot of sources from percussion to vocals etc , the centurion sounded to me like it but with less eq without the mids and the low cut of the tube screamer. Love it I’m going to use more of guitar pedals in mixing, meanwhile I was thinking to find guitar sounds using mixing effects more, I love the sound of my Jazzmaster clean just a di through the console and the built in effects, I’ll try blackbox for saturation, maybe multiband compression and other mixing/ mastering plugins with guitar

Lovely! As you were trying them out, I was thinking that I'd use same combination... plus that I'd sneak in a parallel undistorted kick drum to keep the nice low end punch you initially had. BTW been a LONG time since I heard some pop music with such different, let's call them "innovative" or at least "daring" drums, programming, grooves and sounds! 👍🏻👍🏻 Who's the artist and who produced this track?

I've actually just printed a mix with Gorilla Drive & Time Machine by Safari Pedals on the Mix Buss, they've got some great stuff. Thanks for the great video Matt!
