When the motorcycle being lifted (from minute 3:02 to 3:56) it was making a clicking noise every few seconds. Was that normal? How much did the lift cost you?
@mgoodnow802 жыл бұрын
Yes, that clicking sound is the lock banging into the next position. The hydraulic motor only raises the lift, but doesn't keep it up. Platform rests on a lock, which there are a number of them all the way to the top.
@mgoodnow802 жыл бұрын
Paid about $6600 for the lift, had it customized for me.

It looks great, thank you for sharing. Question, with as much space as the lift takes, would it have been better to just park the bike at the end of the garage? I'm considering installing one of these but after seeing how much work it is I may just deal with the inconvenience of shuffling the car and the bike. Thoughts?
@mgoodnow802 жыл бұрын
Yep, you still have to shuffle car and bike even with the lift. My criteria when planning it, was to only have to remove one car from the garage to be able to lower the lift. Parking a big bike like mine at the end of the garage was a no-go ...even if putting it up on dollies and rolling it around. The real-estate of the lift post is small compared to the bike ...so that's what I had to do.

Awesome job, congrats! How did you know that the existing concrete floor will handle the load? There is a lot of lever if you put 1500lb. on it given the single pole footprint.

Until you specifically said you're in Texas, I figured this had to be in Germany.
@mgoodnow803 жыл бұрын
Ha, well I’m honored to be thought-of as German. My family on mom’s side originally from Switzerland.
@fenrizwulf66823 жыл бұрын
@@mgoodnow80 I meant it as a compliment. The clean, well-lit garage that's purely functional and kind of minimalist, and all the engineering and construction involved in getting the bike lift in seems very German.
@anelekutwana74083 жыл бұрын
a similar design for a car can be doable?
@mgoodnow803 жыл бұрын
Certainly… except their single post lift is on the side (not the front). Check out America Custom lift. They do make more car lifts then motorcycle lifts.

This would have been an awesome project if you hadn't hired out every aspect of the required labor. Do your own work, dude. You'll learn stuff.. The internet will tell you everything you need to know these days. Get your hands dirty, its good for your fingernails and your manhood both.I'm figuring out how best to hang my Harley Davidson Ultra Classic from my garage ceiling during the winter, so I'm doing my homework. I won't be paying people to do my work for me.

Absolutely, mine at almost 7 feet, you could customize to other heights to fit your needs. My wife’s Lexus NX parks under it, and still plenty of room to open tailgate.
