" Never on Sunday ". Consecrated? How things change. Or do they? Yes, it's a great game. Leave it there.

I am guessing this film was made between 79-85? Surprised Lee didn't mention Seve near the beginning or Nick Faldo.

I hope you recycled that bottle Lee, leaving glass on the beach is dangerous for the kiddies 😀 Thanks for posting, I spent my summer holidays at Kinkel Braes for several years as a kid, St. Andrews is an amazing town. Lee is top 5 fav golfer for sure!
What a relaxing change from today's forceful and overblown coaching videos.

Every "era" has its exception to the cookie-cutter, cliche talking "pros" and Lee was the most likeable kind. As much a pleasure to watch and listen to as he had doing this presentation. Classic.

The place is haunted, with vampires. Lee is the best and an inspiration to common people who can now play golf ⛳️ thank you Merry Mex.

Fantastic viewing. Lee Trevino was my grandfathers favourite player, and I still have a set of John Letters “MasterMex” clubs in the loft.

Fantastic. I mean stylistically it's very dated to watch now, but the content is just wonderful. The intervews with Alfie Fyles, Tip Anderson and Arnold Palmer were lovely. Great stuff. Thanks for uploading and sharing this.

As much as i love golf, that has to be the most embarrassingly cheesy programme I've watched. Appreciate it was made a few decades ago 🤮. Were there no young people in St Andrews at the time. Everyone that was interviewed looked very old 👴

Nice Vid, thx but uggggh the opening ramble of the narrator: man learn some history. He says "before Cook discovered Australia" WTF, Cook did not discover Australia, he wasn't even close to being the first European to visit.

When Arnold Palmer started to play the British Open in 1960, he started the tradition for American and many other players from other countries to play the Open as well. Just like Arnold Palmer got the Senior Tour in the States moving when they changed the age to start playing to 50, when he turned 50, from 55. The King of Golf, without a doubt, and my hero.

My brother -in- law played Saint Andrews once in the late seventies. He is a pretty fine player and had an older fella - probably in his sixties at the time- ,caddying for him that day. The man carried his clubs. The man said that he had caddied for 50 years and at one time carried for Bobby Jones. They were playing the first hole and Ken hit a pretty good drive and asked the caddy to hand him a wedge for the approach shot. This fellow , in his fine Brogue accent said: 'Nie laddie.. hit this .' And handed him a 4 iron! Ken hit the ball 20 feet from the hole! Hard to get perspective in that course, apparently.

Having the Merry Mex play golf has been a real boon to the great game. I have had the good fortune to have watched him play up close in 1972, 1984 , and 1985, and each time the memory sticks in my mind. All our heroes are fading away.

Cool that they mention Dutch sailors, since the Dutch probably are the inventors of golf. The dunes on their cost look like a golf course too, and there was a game called goff or colf played with sticks and stones...way back in the day. So it may be that the Scots have copied them and then said "We've found it." And they have had more painters and power and red coats... Things that make you go Hmmmmmm...and Saint Andrews is the coolest course anywhere. Just watched the rest of it and Archie set the record straight...in Gullane. Thanks for the cool video...and Lee Trevino.

Lee is so entertaining and poignantly witty. Yet, he shows us he knows how to ask a question, and sit back and listen. As a side note, I see Lee as a strange mix of William Shatner and Tuco from the Good, Bad, Ugly. Great post.
