Boards cut is a wood countertop. Random cut pieces of wood is butcherblock.

How does it look now after years of moisture? The wood you used surely wasnt cured enough to glue together and coat? I am very well versed in epoxy coatings i am curious if there has been sny disbonded areas on the wood? In my experience i have seen many times urethanes flake off because of moosture mitigation in the wood and expanding and contracting from the wood drying further.

Just watched, and was wondering how it's holding up, especially since I don't think he sealed the bottom same as the top.

I kinda figured to do it this way, but I wanted to check with someone that knows what they're doing. Thanks.

Doesn’t it bend with the weight of the caulk

I watched the video a lot of people wont use pine for chopping board but in the old days pine was used for chopping boards as long as you clean your pine board regularly you wont have any problems most people make chopping board as displayed pieces chopping boards are meant to be used and like everything wont last for ever plus no scientific writing that pine will harbor bacteria infact it can repel plush if you have really sharp knives you dont want a hard wood dulling them just use whatever suites your budget plus if you think about it we have a lot of pine furniture in our homes

do you have to caulk between the wood and the sink?

Just FYI, that 2x4 would have looked a lot better if you had sanded it to the desired finish beforehand. But good quick tutorial on its application!

Quick question. You sink, wouldnt it leak side ways when you splash water to the brim where it joins with the counter top?
@peterohmart5954Ай бұрын
When you were purchasing the wood, you should have purchased longer pieces so that it would go around the sink. It definitely looks like a a person with no knowledge did the work behind the sidk. I have never seen anyone use the technique of coloring of the wood like you did. It broungt out an older wood look! Nice. Have a nice dayl

I like it. But it brought up a question. Has anyone ever done a counter that had a portion which doubled as a cutting-board complete with juice groove ? I don't even know how one would router that groover if they did do that !
@gretchen_needs_a_dogАй бұрын
I read a commment on a cement finish that set the cutting board into the cement before it set, then pulled out - so that the board would move once the counter finish was set. Not the same but I don’t see why you could router a groove. 😊

What is the odour like for both products? I'm making a table out of pine and I want to stain it a darker brown, but my concern is it stinking up the apartment and making everyone sick - even with windows open. Also, should I condition each side individually (starting on the face, letting it dry, then moving on to the edge, letting it dry etc) or do it all in one go? Same with the stain, should I do one side at a time or just do all sides in the same go?
