The first time i walked over the battlefield i wept aged 8, I was singing this song on the walk there, an american woman filmed me on her 90s vhs cam. I wonder if its still in someones attic?

Charles Edward did NOT chose 'the place hisself' - that's simply Whig propaganda.

These words are not correct - the evidence is overwhelming that the choice of battle site was by the entire High Command, it was Hanoverian propaganda that the Prince insisted on a bad ground - didn't happen that way! - nor did the Jacobites carry 'sticks' against guns. Also it was not 'England's' side. Please go back to the original words of this fine song!

Too True, the Real History is Different, But The Legend of the Poorly Armed, Cold Starving Highlanders is Much More Popular Than the Truth!!!🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Lyrics: The hale o’ Scotland’s wearin’ black, all dressed up for the sodden. Prince Cherlie chose the place himsell, the Graveyerd o’ Culloden. Wi’ hungry men, he faced the deuke. Wi’ hungry men and weary. Wi’ sticks and stanes gainst England’s guns, he thocht they’d win for Cherlie. MacDonald, he glowered and stude aback, his pryde was hurt, richt sarely. He wouldna fecht in ony ither place, but on the richt o’ Cherlie. On England’s syde, wi’ lack o’ pryde, the Campbells smyled sae slyly. Our Hielandmen were split in twain, they focht baith for George and for Cherlie. The redcotes gane doun on ane knee and held their muskets ready. Their bellies ticht wi’ brede and chese, their haunds sae warm and steady. Our Hielandmen upon them cam, their rags about them barely. Wi’ slogans and faith, they met their daith, they focht and deyed for Cherlie. He stude on a knoll, the fecht te see. The snaw fell on him lichtly. But its hearse, an hour on Drumossie Mour, he witnessed the murder o’ his country. The hale o’ Scotland’s wearin’ black, all dressed up for the sodden. As Cherlie chose the place himsell, the Graveyerd o’ Culloden.

For 9 months Highlanders had marched from Glenfinnan to Derby and back having fought two battles. Then frozen and starving, they crossed the mountains in Winter, only to face a Government force twice their numbers....British troops well fed and supplied....
