@My-Pal-Hal first, if we're pointing out spelling which isn't really that important, I think you meant "their" and not "there". Second, I gotta be honest, I'm not sure what exactly your getting at, and feels a lot like a bot comment, put out just for the sake of being divisive, which would explain the grammatical issue if English isn't your first language. Even if it is, people have problems so no worries either way. I'm just hoping you can maybe define what you're hoping to communicate more concisely, please.

@My-Pal-Hal just making an observation, not an assumption. No need to get defensive. I'm also not sure how questioning for clarity, which you still haven't provided. For what it's worth, cam is an actual word, so it's spelled right, as the device made it so. Maybe turn that off and use a hard copy dictionary to ensure the word is both spelled correctly as well as used thusly. I've been around enough to be certain at this point your aim isn't to make any point but just to argue. Feel free to express yourself however you wish! I'm a firm supporter of the US constitution and the human rights it aims to preserve, one of which is firearm ownership, another being free speech. If you move your node closer to the antenna you will reduce signal loss due to that long coax run.
@AlwaysPreparedSolutions3 ай бұрын
I can definitely shorten the line, but I have aluminum siding which interferes with Bluetooth when I'm inside. The node is right outside my sliding glass door which helps a ton. I'm open to other ideas, too.
@buckeye432103 ай бұрын
@@AlwaysPreparedSolutions try putting another node inside the house placed in a location where it can mesh with the outside node. That way you can connect to the inside node via Bluetooth for your phones, tablets, computers, etc. Shorten the coax run on the outside node to extend its range.

According to the official Meshtastic site, the record connected range for (2) nodes is ~158 miles. That, of course, was under ideal circumstances. Probably mountaintop to mountaintop with Yagi antennas......and fingers crossed. 🤞😆 Thanks for the video.

It seems rather odd to store them horizontally. I understand wanting to use gravity instead of a pump, but any serious impact is likely to break some of that PVC...and then gravity is causing you to lose a bunch of water. I don't think you could disassemble that without losing a lot of water. I was also surprised to hear that in such a "natural disaster" you wouldn't continue to forage for water and supplies. Since most emergencies don't have a definitive and predictable end date, I'd think you'd want to maintain a cushion of reserve until the disaster was obviously over (if possible). Interesting video though.
@AlwaysPreparedSolutions4 ай бұрын
Good points there, the final product is going to have additional wood over the pvc to protect. In a short term disaster, foraging for water could be extremely challenging, depending on the nature of the events. However, I never said I was excluding doing so. In fact, with this specific set up, collecting rain water will be much easier. Collecting water in place is preferable to carrying water over distances. The gravity feeding is a result of the design, not an element used to create it. The big idea was the smallest footprint for the barrels. You can see I'm at the height of the drop ceiling, and there's definitely not enough room above that for another level of barrels. Going vertical makes for less space taken horizontally. As for disassembling the system, well, it's not meant to be mobile. I am thinking about ending it with shutoff in-between barrels so i can isolate them if needed for repairs, and maybe that wasn't your intent, but now I'm giving that some real tought, and that'll probably get built in at some point. I'm not an engineer, just a guy trying to improve his position the best he can so if bad things happen I stand a better chance of dealing with it. This isn't something I thought up on my own. I found a rain barrel stack and adapted the idea to this, and your comment does have me now thinking of ways to improve this.

I like the stacked barrel concept. It looks like it will hold up well, but will also be easy enough for a prepper lady with basic plumbing and carpentry skills to set up.
@agentp66214 ай бұрын
You might want to make sure you have secondary containment when it fails. It isn’t a matter or if but when because live in a broken world and stuff fails. That’s a lot of water that can spring a leak from a lot of different places given enough time.

I like it!
@stevenparker36964 ай бұрын
That's about 480 pounds of water per barrel...what's the PSI on the floor supports for their being stacked three high and two across (roughly ~3,000 pounds?) in a fairly small footprint...is your floor rated to handle all that weight, or is it on a concrete slab? (Not a criticism, just wondering.)
@AlwaysPreparedSolutions4 ай бұрын
Floor is poured concrete, this is in my basement so I'm not too worried, but excellent point for anyone else to consider.
@sirsteamtrain79134 ай бұрын
Hey just a though for your air lock problem. You could use some 90s and Ts to connect all the top holes in onto one line to let air out with an air lock thing. Then use some 90s to turn off to the other side on the bottom holes and use Ts to make a fill and drain line. I hope that makes some sense.
@AlwaysPreparedSolutions4 ай бұрын
That's essentially what I'm doing for the top two barrels on each, I figure if I get into the bottom barrels, the refill process is something I can live with on that one having the burping if municipal water is back up. Or the refill will be pretty slow using rain water and a home assembled purifying system, which isn't anything ground breaking, but I'll make sure to share at some point.

Preach it brother! That is the mindset that I have embraced lately, and it's great incentive to run across videos like yours to help keep it fresh. Now that I have amassed a much larger collection of birthday well wishes (57) I have had to come back from years of a sedentary lifestyle and poor diet choices. The most disappointing aspect of it is the strength and endurance loss. But I have put in the work and improvement is evolving. One little thing I like to say to myself when I feel like things are getting tough or I'm looking for excuses is, "What would David Goggins do?" Of course I'm using it somewhat satirically because I'm not even close to his level, but every little bit helps, just like running across videos like yours. I subscribed, so looking forward to more incentive. Keep up the good fight, there are folks out here that need and appreciate it.

This is what milsim and airsoft can teach too. It's really too bad a lot of the gun community looks down on airsoft as a partial training tool. Since I started milsims I have gotten way more confident with movements, teamwork, communication, and its a great way to shake down your kit. 24h with all your gear on will bring the imperfections to the surface.
@AlwaysPreparedSolutions9 ай бұрын
I have no problems with milsim and airsoft. Just remember that while there are similarities, it's not an exact translation, just like competition shooting to combat. That being said, I agree that there are many benefits that people shouldn't overlook, especially the gear shakedown portion. You don't know how your kit is really working until you put it through its paces, absolutely.
