I think you said it. It’s still too damp! Leave it a bit - I don’t get tunneling on properly humidified one. Just my thoughts.

Wish I watched this video before smoking one but hey ho. Went into my local cigar shop, tbh really disappointed that they recommended this cigar as a beginner. As I'm new to cigars, everything you said is what experienced when smoking this cigar..Wouldn't smoke or recommend one again.

Loved this one, more taste then other I have tried and burned well with no problem. I guess I was lucky with the single tubed cigar I got and smoked only days after buying.

Had lot of troubles with specially Cubans being over humidified, I am now using 62% boveda packs and that end up at 67% humidity for me with sealed glass jars... I had no troubles with this one and the one I had had perfect not to much humidity as I smoked it only days after buying.

Problem was it needed more acclimatization regarding the humidity. Tube cigars need to be uncapped in the humidor for longer than boxed cigars. Too bad these are normally pretty good. Thanks for the video.

No and no. Due to the consistency of tobacco and the way you pack it, sucking tobacco into the mouthpiece is usually not an issue

Both are the responsibility of the smoker. Smoke slower and neither will be a problem.

I tried so many times, burned one of my pipes (well it's still usable). People told me to tamp 1/3 of the bowl really hard and smoke it but i never got to know what to do next, for example if to clean the whole bowl. Finally i found your video, and i must say, i am very impressed. Thank you so much for great help. I will finally not smoke my pipes and clean the bowls 5 mins afterwards, causing eventually to burn the wood. You are the best !

And also i have a question (cause i've just started smoking pipes, and been an idiot many times). If one of my bowls is just tiny bit burned, i'm talking like 2mm point (like 3 or 4 of those small points in different locations of the bowl), can i continue to smoke it or i should get a new one ? And generally if in one of my pipes a bowl is a little burned (actually pretty burned, but im ashamed of myself haha), is it still usable ?
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
A little burned - just smoke it and try to develop some cake over the burn. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. A lot burned - get a new pipe at King Smoking Pipes and Cigars!

@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
The small size humidor works well with 1 pack, but I'd use either 2 or 3 in the large. It won't over humidify your cigars, the packs will just last longer.

Not sure what to think about " aluminum" 😳?
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
Dunhill has been using aluminum inner tubes in their pipes for years. They're easy to clean, and help to cool the smoke, letting you actually taste it better. Many other pipe makers have used aluminum "stingers" in their pipe, to help with condensation.

@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
We have the lighters on our website. As for pipes, I'd recommend Peterson or Nording. They both offer exceptional quality and smoking characteristics at better than average pricing. There are cheaper pipes out there, but none that compare to the quality.

@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
If you don't rest it, you'll build up a lot of moisture quickly, which will take much longer to break in, and can be unpleasant if you suck some into your mouth. Take your time now, and you'll be much happier later.

What are your thoughts on those ball shaped screens for the bottom of the bowl? My new pipe (I'm a newbie), came with a few of said ball screens. My new pipe also came with the three prong cleaning/packing tool, as well as filters. Thoughts on filters??? Prior to buying this, my first pipe, I was smoking one of my dads, which is old, well seasoned, and no ball-screens, or filters.
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
Screens are for pot pipes. 9mm filters can definitely mellow out the flavor of pipe tobacco, but are more often used in cheaper pipes to help absorb the moisture build up commonly associated with the use of inferior briar. Personally, I don't smoke filter pipes, but maybe some other viewers can chime in on their experiences.
@craigslitzer48577 жыл бұрын
KingSmokingPipesandCigars I smoke filter pipes to filter out ash & fines. I'm clumsy and will occasionally pull too fast, dragging fines and foul tasting ash into my mouth if I don't have a filter.

Did you just seriously slam the whole brand after smoking 1 cigar of 1 vitola? I hope people are not paying attention to you... Most cubans smoke best in the 62-65% humidity range so if you purchased this overhumidified and let it rest for 2 weeks, chances are the whole cigar did not come down in RH. Most likely why you had tunneling and clearly lighting problems at the very beginning. If you did purchase a box, I hope you try smoking these about 3 months later to give them a fair shot and more than one, at that...
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
At this point, I'm ready to slam the entire cuban cigar industry. In 60 years, they haven't changed a thing, and mostly produce only average cigars. Meanwhile, Nicaragua has evolved into producing some of the best tasting and unique blends. I've smoked many cubans, a few good, a lot bad, and most just average.
@eriknash87837 жыл бұрын
I guess I don't understand the thought behind this. I love some Nico cigars and love some Cuban cigars. They are distinctly different products. I also dislike many offerings from both countries. I also have no idea your sample size to write off an entire countries worth of cigars. I generally dislike Merlot's, but have had a few that were really good. That is my opinion but I would not tell everyone one in a public forum that all Merlots are shit and should be ignored. It's subjective. I have also noticed since I am smoking more pipe tobacco lately that many of my beloved cigars are not the same anymore. I will not chuck them because my pallet will undoubtedly shift again in the future.

So my hubby is making the switch from cigarettes too pipe. Is there a lower priced pipe you'd recommend for a beginner? A tobacco he should try? I hate the smell of cigarettes on his clothes... silly question I know but what tobacco is least offensive too a non smoker? I remember as a child my grand papa smoked a wonderful blend that smelled good. And help would be great!
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
Peterson and Nording make the best pipes in the $60-$100 range, and HIS makes good pipes for around $50. I'd shy away from anything cheaper, since they often use inferior briar which will smoke poorly, and he'll never enjoy it. To start, I'd try our King of Queens pipe tobacco. It's super mild, tasty and smells delicious!

I'm new to pipe smoking. I picked myself up a brandy pipe and inside the stem is a white tube filled with what looks like pencil lead. Any idea what this is? And is it supposed to stay in the stem?
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
It sounds like a 9mm pipe filter - paper tube, ceramic ends, filled with activated charcoal. You can try smoking with or without it. Without the filter, you probably want a 9mm to non-filter adapter, since the gap left by removing the filter will tend to build moisture. If you choose to use it, the filter will need replacing every so often, depending on the blends you're smoking.

I recently bought a new pipe by F.E.S.S., and I'm having a lot of trouble with the pull. It's an arched stem pipe, I think you'd call it a small churchwarden, and the bowl's walls are very thin, making the inside of it very wide. But it feels like I'm trying to suck the smoke through a coffee stirrer straw. Does breaking the pipe in help the air to flow more easily, or might I just have what's at the bottom packed too tightly?
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, with inexpensive pipes like that, the smoking qualities are going to be hit or miss. As far as packing too tight, you'd have to see how the pipe draws with no tobacco in the bowl.

Hello, sorry to go a bit off topic, but I have a question about old pipes. I mean really old pipes. I have some pipes laying around which were my grandpa's, and weren't used for 50 years or maybe more. is there a way to still use them or they are just a collection item to show friends now?

Would something like Deep Hollow be ok to smoke in a new pipe?
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
Virginias, in general, tend to burn hot, have low moisture, and don't build cake very fast. McClelland Deep Hollow has Red Virginia, which is slightly cooler burning and has a little higher moisture content. Smoke slowly, and pay attention to how hot the bowl gets. Don't let it get more then "fairly warm" (as opposed to "kinda hot") and you'll be ok.

cool vid man wanted to try pipe smoking but I got a question can you smoke and inhale it like how you normally smoke a cigarette?
@Kingsmokingpipesandcigars7 жыл бұрын
not really. Most real pipe tobacco (not cig tobacco labeled as pipe tobacco) is difficult to inhale, mainly due to the pH. Of course, you can do anything if you put your mind to it!
@billys.32587 жыл бұрын
Because I see this asked so frequently, I wanted to chime in. As a pipe smoker who is a former cigarette smoker and loves a good nicotine buzz...pretty much regardless of the blend I am smoking, I inhale every 3rd-5th puff depending on strength. If it is pretty strong, I enjoy inhaling every 5th puff or so, allowing the nicotine buzz to build slowly. If you buzz to fast, you will get dizzy, light-headed, chills, and stomach-sick. Nobody wants that. It is important to not over-inhale and let it build up slowly, but if you want to, absolutely, you can inhale.
