While Ramin Djawadi's Iron Man main motif didn't fully return in the sequels there were actually some similar subtle note reference in both iron man 2(an unused track, corrupted ver and a quick begin guitar riff) & 3(35.It's Good to be Back,a subtle mix in attack on 10880 and new beginning track) also tobey spider man entrance theme(4 notes)in nwh has a bit of similarity to the vacation over track from iron man 2008

I actually disagree with age of ultron because even though Danny Elfman used some of the original avengers theme. It was weak and not as loud or triumphant as it was in the original. The original 2021 avengers theme was ingrained into our brains, like ok we hear the theme we think of avengers. Age of ultron didn't do thst so the music felt off. Inifnity war and endgame because it was thr same composer Alan as the 2012 avengers the theme was use triumphantly and it was amazing. Each time we saw the team on the screen we heard the theme. Its like vader and his theme or Harry Potter and his. The main theme continues and your brain correlates it with that character
@KZt-Ksh Жыл бұрын
It's a bit of a stretch,in a certain point of view the reason the avengers theme is like that in age of Ultron because it's a foreshadow that avenger will broke up and which happened in civil war,the avengers theme for me is like the united assemble theme for the team and with it playing subtle yet noticeable in age of Ultron it represents you know the rest
@jacliffh92213 ай бұрын
You actually hear the original version of the theme more times in AoU than in Infinity War actually, as for Danny elfman’s reinterpreted version of the theme, you’d have to realize it’s the first time ever that an MCU composer chose to acknowledge and respect theme music that came before, way before the others. It’s extremely ballsy, and made sense at the time that it was changed, as Silvestri’s theme only appeared in avengers 1 back then, it was more or less the ‘avengers 1’ theme rather than the avengers theme, like all the other MCU music at the time. It’s elfman’s decision to keep the leitmotif that brought this theme to what it is now.
@lifeinjersey98463 ай бұрын
@@jacliffh9221 I don't necessarily agree that Elfman helped keep the theme of the 2012 avengers. Silvestri was already iconic after the first film and with infinity war and endgame that theme is cemented as the avengers theme. Elfman was the first to resue the original theme in a sequel like you said but it wasn't really noticeable. Aside from spiderman Elfman doesn't really seem to put much effort into his scores aside from tim Burton movies. I mean I like Elfman as a composer but a lot of his scores in the last 20 years are not remarkable or just so dull you don't remember them Although I have to admit as dull as the doctor strange 2 score is the guitar riff for Wanda dream walking was incredible
@ΧΙΗΙΧ3 жыл бұрын
All these themes are indeed great but yes they should keep to the original theme, even if the new composer feels it's not right they should exept it, or try din developing/transforming/evalutionise the music, i.e.: Original Silvestri Captain America theme, get's more modern instrumentation showing how Steve needs to adapt to this new era. Ramin Iron Man guitar theme is the Iron Man/Reckless Tony theme, which throughout the movies sometimes halfway turns into a more heroic brass theme when Tony is a true hero (saving Pepper, climax decision etc.) and thereby becomes a full theme: Heroic Iron Man/responsible Tony. Both of these I feel they maybe tried to do but if the themes aren't the same, instrumentation isn't a change it's just completely diffirent
@Th_Uslss_Indvdl3 жыл бұрын
Ramin Djawadi’s Iron Man, Patrick Doyle’s Thor, and Alan Silvestri’s Captain America will always be the best. It’d be sick if they went back and edited these movies George Lucas style and made all the music match up.
@touchanddie3 жыл бұрын
yeah, and there is also Danny Elfman, who basically "preserved" at least one leitmotif, and now it's the only one thing that we remember from MCU. honestly, those three you mentioned are the only ones I can recall. Mostly, cause composers are great- they knew how to push the right strings to get emotional response. But, I doubt that Disney gonna do what you said, unless they run out of ideas and would try to cash on recycling (read rebooting) things. Oh, right.. :)

I'll say here what I said on the others - what you're asking for is not "risk taking", and is kind of a rut. You want Wagner. You connect to the motivic structure that Wagner perfected (himself taking a bit from Berlioz and Beethoven) and Tchaikovsky, channeled through Mahler. It is a 170 year old compositional technique. And yeah, from a memorability perspective, it works. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings / Hobbit, James Hrorner's score for Trek movies 2 and 3, and yeah, a lot of Silvestri. But it isn't "risk taking" to fall back on that. In fact, most composers today are trying to avoid that BECAUSE it is seen as too backward-looking, too much of saying that the 19th Century Romantic tradition is the end-all of Western music and there is no creativity left. So while we've replaced one form of static repetition (repeating Wagnerian motifs) with another (temp music from film scores from temp music from film scores from ...), neither are risk taking as such. And your though of filling in Tyler's Iron Man 3 theme in there just reinforces that - don't take risks by writing something new, fall back on the Wagner by repeating what is already known.

Repetition legitimizes.

10:37 According to one of the top comments (as of this comment being published) on Every Frame a Painting's video, that was the case with the score for _Ragnarok_; " 'By August 2016, Mark Mothersbaugh was hired to score the film.[2][3] Mothersbaugh was influenced by a video essay from the KZbin channel Every Frame a Painting, which criticized the scores from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films for their lack of memorability, to make the score for Thor: Ragnarok as distinctive as possible.[4]' - Music Director for Thor Ragnarok"

they've actually done a lot better in the TV series on disney+ imo. WandaVision teases some of the Dr. Strange music. Falcon and the Winter Soldier was honestly one of the best TV soundtracks I've heard, it made a reference to the Falcon theme from Civil War, had several callbacks to the old captain America theme as it was showing the legacy of the shield, and even brought back the Winter Soldier theme during Bucky's nightmares. Loki has been pretty original so far, but that's fine bc there's not really anything to call back to with his character

And the movie ends with the original Thor theme. That's right ... the director and music composer chose to end their movie by harkening back to where the series started, with a theme by a different composer and a movie directed by a different director. It was a sincerely thoughtful choice.

Meanwhile Agents of SHIELD finished last year having one of the most memorable themes in the MCU simply because they kept it around. I think a lot of the superhero shows get this really well. CW, for its faults, has had an amazing theme for all its characters, and continues to use them well.
