If Paul didn't keep jumping out of the way of the disc you woulda got 💯% As I haven't even got a girlfriend, the chance of being a dad now is greatly diminishing by the minute so I think I'll just have to admit the 'Dad Arm' is just out of my reach. I will though, stick with the shot that never misses.. we all throw it... and so many forget how good they are with it.... the "Return to Bag" shot... When walking back to your bag.. no matter how bad the previous shot was... without thinking you grab that disc, yeet it off almost without looking, and have it either smack your bag or roll 360 round it... yet when it comes to that important upshot (important as you usually ace the basket so on the scarce occasion you fall short you need that jailbreaker)... you throw.. and people in the next time zone duck for cover... all because you forgot to just pick up that disc and 'return it to your bag"... the bag over there, hanging under those chains... Then there's my (actually seriously) Frisbee shot... Stand in the distance, open stance, front foot almost 45deg out wide... stare at the target (don't let that sucker outstare you) and near straight arm Hyzer yeeted out on that 45, and somewhere abouts a 45 Hyzer (Depending in wind, less wind, more Hyzer)... still outstaring that basket... for the disc to do that pure arc out and up, round and down.. smack on target... (tho don't forget to calculate skip.. specially in wind when the Hyzer is more shallow). I mentioned this shot to a player last week then threw a 40ft near vert backhand straight into the basket (ok actually the 1st time I put it in a basket but I have bullseyed bags, Tees, and nearly someone's dog when the owner said "he'll move" (I aimed wide and landed 2ft in front... he didn't move)... My version of the Dad shot is the 'Shaped Charge". (you can do this with your entire hip bag of discs without looking at what your grabbing, and empty the bag into the basket)... Grab a disc (any disc.. literally it doesn't matter). Back hand throw Open stance (another frisbee shot).. Look at the target... Put the disc to your rear shoulder, Level with your head, 45deg Hyzer... Aim directly at the basket... DON'T aim left/right... Throw that disc STRAIGHT (on that Hyzer) at the chains. 10 from 10 at 20ft!

Chris this is an incredibly well done and informative video not mention inspirational for me personally. After watching your video I felt comfortable enough to purchase my own pantograph. I noticed that at one point in the video you mentioned that if you don't have a "T" slot table you'd need to figure out an unorthodox method of clamping. Please have a look at the video link im going to share of the clamping system I came up with to overcome this obstacle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZeQgmeBopZqerMsi=Km1sVq5YLjfaVg-A

Hey chris as always great vid. So i have been searching no where have i seen any one sharing how they mill or cut the three sides of a tang of a slip joint. I understand the ratios but i have not seen anyone cut theirs. Could you point me in a good direction?????Thank..
@cfcrawfordyout
@cfcrawfordyout 2 ай бұрын
Hey Ralph. Check out this video where I review the Kennedy Fixture. I talk about getting the three sides of the tang set correctly. I believe that most folder makers just grind that area rather than mill them. It's something that you cut out, and then grind and test, grind and test, and grind and test until you get it set correctly. The Kennedy Fixture isn't necessary, It just helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/borXeaaDh65noNU If you want to see a really basic way of doing it, check out my old slipjoint tutorial from 23 years ago. chriscrawfordknives.com/tutorials/written-tutorials/slipjoint/page-1/

Chris. Why do you make your pivot hole in the blade .172dia and not .188 3/16????????
@cfcrawfordyout
@cfcrawfordyout 3 ай бұрын
I turn the bushing down from 3/16" stock so that I can make sure my hole is centered. By drilling fist, and then turning the stock down. my hole will be centered between the outsides. I actually do it a little differently now. Now I drill the hole and then cut the bushing off. I then place the bushing on a separate mandrel and turn it down. I get even more accuracy this way. I got this idea from Ken Honeycutt.

The basic kit comes with one set of spinners, and it goes for $100. You can add additional sets of spinners for $50 each, and I have three different sizes available. The different spinner sets are for 1/16", 3/32", and 1/18" pins. Shipping would be whatever it cost to get it to SA. I do ship world wide, but can't guarantee the delivery, once the package has left the US.

Hello. It will depend on the ratio that you're using to cut the shield. If you are using a 4:1 ratio, and your cutter is 1mm, then the stylus should be 4mm.

Hi Chris, thanks for this really useful video! I just want to confirm in my mind that you move the stylus in a anti-clockwise direction when following the outside of a pattern, and move it clockwise when cutting an internal cavity shape - is this correct? Many thanks, Malc (UK)

How do you set pins in a boot knife where you don’t want to cut in to the handle material?
@cfcrawfordyout
@cfcrawfordyout 9 ай бұрын
You might could leave the pins longer and go ahead and peen a head on them and lock them into place. Then you might could use the spinners to clean up the heads, but being careful not cut into the scales.

Hello Barry. I can't necessarily recommend it, but some folks have had success using the Proxxon pantograph, so that might be an option. I've never used one personally, so I can't speak from experience. I know some people have been able to use it, and some haven't, so take that for what it's worth. I do have a write up about it on my website though. chriscrawfordknives.com/pantographs/the-proxxon-pantograph/ Hope this helps. -Chris
