Untreated ADD or mistreated, rather, can have detrimental consquences. You are on your own in the real world, unfortunately

Been considering getting tested. Found out my dad had adhd as a kid, it’s possible it mellowed out into adulthood for him. My brother also has adhd, so it’s hard to believe that I didn’t inherit it. I suffer with being forgetful and feeling lazy. Truly hard to relax when in my head I’m telling myself I’m being lazy. Growing up, my mother would be frustrated with me a lot because I would forget things, whether it be a chore or something she tells me. Really makes me feel awful and incompetent when that happens. I’m in my 20’s and this still happens. I’ve never been the hyper type, I’m very much introverted, so maybe I’m more of the ADD side of things

There is no such thing as ADD in the United States. Aren’t you based in Texas? You should know better if you’re going to pretend to be mental health experts. It’s a ADHD type one and ADHD type two, but more accurately it’s a spectrum and not a box A and box B. Really makes me question trusting this channel as a source for anything.

Im pretty sure ADD is just understimulated ADHD. I have ADD and being bored or too comfortable can make me feel lazy, but i do feel hyperactive when im excited or having fun. The problem is that people consider it a "disorder" but it can be a gift if u know how to use it right. Its absolute bullshit for doctors and parents to put kids on amphetamines because school is boring. I took focilin at 8 years old and it made me hallucinate. The only thing they did was switch to a different drug. Then they tell kids not to do drugs when they're literally forcing kids to do drugs. Stop making your kids bored all day and let them play until exhaustion.

I was diagnosed with ADD as a child and still got told I was lazy and not trying hard enough. Then ADD and ADHD were merged and called ADHD. Because all the literature now only refered to ADHD, I delayed seeking further treatment because "I'm not hyperactive". I Wish they would stop renaming things like that, it's confusing and potentially fatal.

ADD has not been a thing since the early 1990s. I'm shocked that THIRTY years later we are still repeating concepts that are widely known and understood to be out dated.

While ADD was formally replaced by ADHD in the early 1990s, some individuals may still be diagnosed with the "inattentive" presentation of ADHD, which shares similarities with the previous ADD diagnosis.

unfortunately, ADD is no longer considered separately in the DSM5 - but it is a distinction in reality, ADD is more often referred to as the inattentive subtype of ADHD

I’ve known that I probably have adhd for a bit less than a year. I only recently thought that I probably have combo adhd because I thought I had inattentive adhd, I knew I showed most of the symptoms for adhd but I’m introverted and not that sporty (I love walking tho). I’m now thinking that I have combo because I realised it existed. Might have autism too and I’m not really thinking about the possibility of me have anxiety or stuff like that. So I’m an aroace lesbian with adhd add and maybe autism

The scientists/psychologists only call it ADHD now because they're pretentious and need to find a label that sounds more complex and distances itself from anything that becomes well known. Plus, if in doubt, add more words (I think you'll find that ADD is now ADHD Pi ). Like all the Aspergers and 'Aspies'.. Nope. it's 'Autism' and 'high functioning autism' now. Oh, and 'multiple personality disorder'.. you get that, you've all got it ok?.. No, it' 'dissasociative identity disorder' now.. :I I suggest we call high functioning autistics 'Hauties' now, and see how long it lasts.

Those diagnosis are completely updated. It is referred to now is what you would be ADHD inattentive type. And ASD level one requiring support. Because in 2013 this was changed because and I grew with this symptoms of Asperger‘s really aren’t that different from autism it’s just a require of level of support needed that’s it. I’m really glad they got rid of the label of high functioning me personally because even though I look high functioning, I don’t always feel or am high functioning. That can change the person’s or the day. Like I could be speaking really eloquently about something productive or whatever. And there are times where I going to sensory overload to the point where actually went nonverbal for like three days, and my voice was too loud for me. I am trying not to have a panic attack when I’m crowded on the train because everyone’s touching me and there’s nowhere to move and that makes me freak out. There’s more examples anyway they changed it and it makes more sense to me personally. Another thing is some people still do my initial diagnosis was Asperger but that was way back when I was six and I’m 31 now. It’s like a high functioning form of autism. And as I said before, that is not accurate. And I’m glad they changed it. Function doesn’t necessarily mean they are. Like yes, I have my own place but I require the financial aid of social assistance and my parents because I can’t work enough to fully support myself. And there are times were actually a lot of times when I get overwhelmed and suffer with extreme emotional regulation to the point where I can’t really verbalize what I need when I’m overwhelmed. And other times I’m just not communicating. And also sometimes I just don’t know how to communicate my knees. It’s hard to explain. I don’t know if you’ve experiences. But it’s like sometimes I know what I wanna say well not really even know like I feel like, but I can’t get the words out and I have a hard time communicating. Among other difficulties are just some. But that is why the main reasons why they changed it. Also, Hans Asperger was involved in basically waiting out what he thought were the anyways that’s the whole thing. I’m not gonna get into that. But also the elitism part of it I found in the autistic community that I saw in the past and still see online. Is some people not all people but there are some people who act like there better Because they’re diagnosis, Aspergers and not the “lower functioning” autism. And there are still people that even say they don’t even want to be associated with the lower functioning people who can’t live on their own and need more support. And I find that a lot of people find that extremely offensive. And it’s like it’s a spectrum disorder. It’s not a sub is not its own separate disorder. What people thought before. But it’s just a level of support. There is now consist of ASD autism spectrum disorder, level one, level, two, and level three. People previously diagnosed with Asperger’s would be on the level one less, but they still need support. Anyways, that’s my long take on the matter and that’s why that that changed and that’s why those terms are outdated.

Yup- all round yup lol. I was constantly told I need to try harder in subjects I really struggled with- Maths and Science being the top 2. Yet get me in a Design tech class, art or drama, I'd be really driven and focused. I wouldn't say I have the hyperactivity, but literally every single one of my behaviours is textbook ADD! The question is, how do you get a doctor to take you seriously enough to actually get a diagnosis?! I've tried twice with my GP and the enquiries haven't followed through.

This is ridiculous. ADD and ADHD are the same. In fact, ADD is no longer in the DSM books to diagnose mental illness. ADD changed to ADHD in the 1980s because the data concluded that there was no differentiation between hyperactive and ADD symptoms. ADD and ADHD are the same disorders. There are 3 versions; Hyperactive, Innatentive, and Combined. Most adults are combined. This video doesn't help anyone with ADHD. It just confuses the illness by clouding the waters. There is already a lack of understanding and appreciation for the disorder. This video makes it worse. Shame on you.

Adhd and add are the same. What you call add is the inetentiv type of adhd. They are the sme becous the type both is when you have the hyperactiv (adhd) and inetentiv (what you call add) and it is the mos comon type of adhd so tis vide shud be named inetentiv vs hyperactiv adhd. And ther a lot more things you got wrong (not evrithing is wrong). And add and adhd have bean the same even before this video.

When it was time for us to start the assignment. I was thinking to myself, what are we supposed to do? Math was the worst subject. It was so hard to understand how to solve a problem. I was showed how to, but I couldn't not understand it. My mind just could not process what they were saying.
