I live in Sacramento for over 40 years now. But is thinking of moving out of a more affordable state. It’s too expensive to buy and live in California especially Elk Grove, Folsom, and Eldorado Hills. You gotta make 150k per year to buy a $500k home and 200k to afford a 700k home. It’s not worth it.

If you want to live in a small town, conservative, safe, low crime neighborhood, Auburn is definitely a great choice. If you a left leaning, and supports the BLM and LGBTQ idealogy, I can tell you, this is not the town for you. I can also tell you the people here are very friendly and they look out for one another. These are some of the things no realtors will tell you. If you are from the Bay, EG would suit you better, more diversity if you will.

Prices too high for an area just a stone throw from the ghetto. At 900k+, you have more choice than EG. You get more bang for your buck in Rancho Cordova, although in my humble opinion, still not a desirable area. Roseville, Rocklin, Loomis, maybe Lincoln would be a far better choice in the long run.

Weather sucks here in Sac. Inflation very high. Rent very high. Food price very high. Only couple areas have good schools here but those areas are even more costly.

If this was a realistic pros and cons then the homeless population/issue and gang violence should have been mentioned. I was born in sac and have family both here and in San Bernardino I lived in so-cal until I was 14 and moved back to sac. Been here for 18years and the homeless is increasing by the day and Sacramento doesn’t seem to have a solution for it. I just bought a home in plumas lake because I now have a baby and want to keep him away from the danger that comes with the homeless encampment’s and the gangs. I loved growing up in Sacramento and am sad that I had to move to plumas lake to find a decent affordable house and keep my son away from gangs
