I there, can you please tell me if you feel to big board for this model? Everyone say this should be in smaller sizes… Because higher volume decrease turn ability, but not everyone have good skills! Beside that, did you feel wind offshore to be struggle with a board like this without nose? Which one do you prefer, seaside or evo? Many thanks for your time, Regards, Marco Lima (from Portugal)
@surfboarddemos9 күн бұрын
I ride mid lengths most of the time so 40 to 48 liters for a shortboard works best for my size. I would choose the Seaside over the Evo because the rail to rail transitions are a little smoother and more fluid. The Evo's nose is not a problem at all and actually works well when trimming through flat sections. 👍

Wow.. Greatly appreciated info! Was just about to buy my first midlengthlongboard groveller at 67yo x 6'3" x 180lbs....having surfed shortboards for 50 years...till I saw this video ...do you think there are noticeable disadvantages in reducing length below 6'4" when grovelling, particularly when you are tall? Are the 2" reduction in length incremements in model size possibly more detrimental when grovelling than the 3/4/5L reduction in volume for each smaller model size? Or vice versa...if u get my drift Sorry to make it sound so complicated but I am having trouble getting my head around so much volume for such a small board....ie. would you consider riding the 62 or 60 as a groveller and would there be any advantage Thanks...
@surfboarddemos3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words my friend. My two cents on grovelers is that they will never compete with longboards or mid-lengths even at equal volume. Too corky. Check my 7'4 Takayama Scorpion videos. Same volume as the 6'4 Sweet Potato but way more proportional. Wave count is the number one goal for me at my age. That's why I mainly surf the Walden 7'2 Mega Magic. Paddles like a longboard, surfs like a short board. Good luck!

i had the 9 ft aipa big brother sting and the 10 ft 2 custom big brother sting. the 9 ft was perfect it was 91 liters and maneuvered very well and caught every wave and can take off steep or farther back. the 10 ft two has 23 more liters and 26 more in in lenghth. I think there was a definite tradeoff in maneuvering but the board is fast, still takes off steep too. I only weigh 150 though. I think the 9 ft was perfect but the 10 ft might be a little too much volume for me. both are awesome boards. Haven't tried the toughlite yet though.

The sweet potato was probably the best groveler but nothing beats a bigger board (mid length) in soft, mushy surf. Depending on your height and weight. The 6'4 sweet potato rips like a short board but the 7'2 Walden Mega, 7'4 Scorpion and the 8'0 Aipa Big Brother Sting will catch the most waves.👍

@surfboarddemos6 ай бұрын
That's just my style. I trim to make sections on longer boards opposed to gyrating, so I move my feet closer to the nose. The Beaver has more pivot because of the tail and fin selection. The Sunday is more faster down the line. Hope that helps.
