Hi! The brass numbers can attached with solder, with epoxy glue or superglue gel. For painting, we recommend using a spray paint of your choice, then rubbing the etched numbers on some fine grit paper which will expose the brass number above the painted background.

Do the springs have to be removed from the points, or can you leave them in?
@dccconceptsyoutube6446Ай бұрын
the springs should be removed. Slow-action cannot be achieved with the springs in place. If you want to retain the springs, we suggest you take a look at our range of Rails Connect solenoid motors, but you will not be able to use working point rodding.
@chickenbites8877Ай бұрын
@@dccconceptsyoutube6446 thankyou very much for the info. What I’d really like to do is use solenoid motors to operate the points as normal, but use your point rodding in runs all the way back to the signal box, just for aesthetic purposes only. The rods and cranks would still move, just not in a realistic manner - do you think this would be possible?
@dccconceptsyoutube6446Ай бұрын
@@chickenbites8877 using the rodding with solenoid motors is not ideal - the solenoid motor "snap" change will likely destroy the rodding you install. We wouldn't recommend using it in this way other than with a slow-action motor.

I recently bought four of these and found them to be very noisy. Checking the posts of others on various sites, it turns out that this is/was a fairly common problem. You can quite easily open the machine by undoing the four screws. In the process, you'll have to slice through the labels. I didn't have any grease available to me, so I put very small drops of locomotive lubricating oil on each of the gear wheels and also on the places in the moulding that fit over their axles. I then re-assembled the machine and the noise was reduced, but not nearly completely. I then made them switch back and forth a number of times. It seemed that after sitting for a while the machine operated with less noise. I also tightened the housing screws, as they had originally been, but backed off a quarter turn. I don't know which of these was the most important, but the machine is now operating as quietly as the Tortoise machines which I also have in use. I'm going to repeat this process on the other machines. In the one that I have opened, there was some white grease on the wheels, but not much.

Big bucks but I guess the fundamental is whether you have a need for wireless application, horses for courses and all that. Personally I never understood why NCE was so popular without a graphics screen and so many keys to press ie on the ECoS I bought, you can do all the track layout design, pictorial loco selection and turnout switching without going between multiple menus, has Main and additional Programming Track feeds and recognises other controller inputs eg Roco Z21. It also has a reasonable 6 Amps output and twin controllers
@dccconceptsyoutube64468 ай бұрын
The ECoS is a fantastic system - but not if you want to walk around whilst controlling your locos. If you do, then you can connect a glass screen device - or get the cab throttle - which is also glass-screen with a motorised dial. If you want a "walk about" handset with push button control, then NCE is a great option. We even have Alpha and ESP accessory control options with push-button operation, so no multiple button-pressing!

@@gppsoftware Both replies have valid comments which is why my comment re application is key ie whether you have a small, med or large (multi-user) layout and thus your spend.

Looks a really good bit of kit but it is a bit pricey guys! I appreciate it's a comprehensively thought-out product but times are economically hard for us long suffering, mainly over charged hobbyists! Perhaps an RRP of £369.95 would be more reasonable, considering you also need a separate Power Cab too to be used in combination with this unit! Don't take advantage of your customers with obscene prices as Bachmann and Hornby have done with their RRPs or you'll ruin your all important reputation!

We would love to be able to charge less for the product if this was possible. Due to increased production costs and the need to provide a reasonable margin for our dealers as well as payiing HMRC their customary amount, this is not possible. The retail cost of the product is actually good value for the features on offer when compared to the alternative collection of products which would need to be obtained from NCE (as an example). We do offer the ability to split the payment into 2 interest-free payments if you wish.
