Does it rattle and bounce around or are you able to get it tight enough?
@vojtaboruvka4629 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking about putting a strip of rubber in there too to make it tighter but in the end it was tight enough.

Where'd you get the large chunk of Catlinite? Surely North America isn't the only place this stuff occurs. There is usually at least two main geographical locations that a natural mineral or rock appears on Earth. "Usually"... Like Novaculite, it oocurs in only two known places. One I live in and the other in the opposite hemisphere. But it makes some of the best arrowheads and spearheads that is the most beautiful on planet Earth.

Nice work btw and cool little "lathe jig" you built for it. Finished that way faster than most could do it. Very well done.

My goodness. I’ve been trying different ways to quickly attach a milk crate to do exactly this. Already returned 2 types of quick latches back to seller and trying a 3rd but this, this is a new way and glad I found you. I may have to go wood if I can’t figure something out soon. I like what you did. I’m not a carpenter so I’ll wait a little longer to try but look doable with my limited carpenter skills. Nice going and thanks for sharing this. It’s a new direction and again I might just go this way if I get any closer to losing my mind. If you have or know other ways please post. But this one works and that’s kind of what matters. 👍
@vojtaboruvka46293 жыл бұрын
Milk crate, you mean a plastic one? I would go with 3D printing something similar to my wooden latch and then find a way to attach it to your crate - screws maybe..

I'm a musician and have a wooden crate. I was wondering if you could send me the stencil you used so that I could burn it into my own wood crate. Also, what liquids did you pour onto the stencil and then spray on the box afterward to finish the project?
@vojtaboruvka46293 жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately I dont have the stencil anymore, its been years since I made it. The first liquid I poured on the crate was a beeswax since I planned on waxing the whole thing. Then I changed my mind and used acrylic varnish in a spray bottle, which was a bad idea since varnish doesnt stick to wax too well. If I were to make it again, I wouldve waxed/oiled the whole thing, varnish can crack and peel over the years when exposed to elements.

@@vojtaboruvka4629 Thanks for the advise! And no worries over the stencil. I may be able to screen grab the image and draw it myself. :)

I had a stone chillum way back (70s-80s). It was beautiful in it's simplicity. It's verticality allowed for a smoother draw and even screens weren't nessesary. A tiny pebble worked just as well. SWEAR TO GOD!!! Do they even sell them anymore?

That's badass. I don't smoke anymore, but I love lapidary work, I'm gonna see if I can make my buddies some. I don't have a drill press though, I only have a hand held saw and a table saw for wood with a concrete blade and a dremel with short bits. I don't want to spend hundreds since I haven't moved yet, any ideas or advice as to how I could bore through a stone about 4 to 6 inches? Any advice or products for a dremel are appreciated and welcome

Every inch of these products are handcrafted without any machine assistance, So the dimensions are mentioned in approx but assure mentioned volume. ecohindu.in/conventional-kitchenware/handmade-soapstone-idikal-of-2-inches-with-steel-handle/
